Well I expected to get more done than I did but it looks like the time has come to put Oblivion to sleep and crack open Skyrim. The Creation Kit is apparently being unleashed on Tuesday, this coming from Bethesda more likely means another few weeks away but we can hope they aren't lying this time.
I have the models etc waiting to get started with Skyrim, the new features look to make the mod more progressive, I will have something out Skyrim wise within maybe a week of when the kit is released, it will only be the location and the appearance of the place when you first find it, nothing special but will be making a mark of where it will be going and is a stepping stone for the rest of episode one.
So far all I have fully planned is what is going to be done, no layouts, nothing detailed, just a rough list of what I will be putting into the land of Skyrim. The first location which will be in episode one will be nothing fancy, mainly just the foundations for an off world base with the first enemy faction being involved. I havent modeled any outfits and things yet as I am pretty much having to start from scratch on that front as the skeleton and body itself have been severely changed (for the better). The first enemy I plan to have will be a (sort-of) Victorian era race of humans (just using Imperials for that) with some advance technologies with magical properties. I am designing this race heavily based on Steam Punk styles, I have always been fascinated by the intricate details of the style. I know this is nothing to do with stargate but I am simply using this as a starting enemy, one which can be an ally later which will be more explained in a PDF manual or wiki, haven't decided what would be better yet (comment and let me know what you would prefer). There will be plenty Stargate things so no need to worry about the lack of that in episode one.
One of the main things I want to mention is that this is a 50/50 mod, you get one side, the questline leading you around new locations and into fights with new enemies and such, then you get the other side which is a settlement building mod. I wanted to do this in oblivion but skyrim having many half destroyed buildings and and possibility to edit them to look like they are mid construction makes it seem much better to do it in Skyrim. If you want any examples of how this will work then have a look at RTS (Real Time Settler) on the Nexus sites for Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I will be coding from scratch but will be trying to contact that team to see if anyone will give me permission to scavenge from the mods code and things to help me get it working the same way as the controls for that mod and the way it worked was perfect for me.
