Operation Peacekeeper is a modern warfare modification for the popular game Battlefield 2, based on a fictional development of a Kosovo conflict. The mod features two different sides - the German Bundeswehr and the Serbian VSCG - engaging in the rough and mountainous terrain of Kosovo. Both use state of the art military weapon systems like the German Leopard 2A6 MBT, as well as older, but yet still effective equipment, like the Russian build Mi24V Hind E used by the Serbian forces. The maps cover a large array of different settings, such as for example a domestic port, a small village, or a military airport attacked by German airborne troops.

Blacksandstudio: An overview

What is this about?
- Some months ago the idea of development across different MODs was conceived. On the occasion of a meeting of already cooperating MODs it was agreed/discussed that not every single tree, fence or whatever else needed to be developed over again. This way the idea of possibly combining forces in future was born. As a cooperation between OPF, USI, BGF und BF 1918 was already existing we were happy to agree, too.

Who is involved?
- So far, the following teams are on board: Battlegroup Frontlines, US Intervention, Project Reality, Eve of Destruction, BF Korea, Conspiracy of Nod, and Operation Peacekeeper.
Furthermore, there are also the “SIR-Community” and 21st Century Warfare on the game. More members are to be expected.

What are our intentions?
- In the first place, we plan to complete our BF2-MODs, until we find that we have had enough of it. Next we’ll be looking for a new platform. We’ll let everybody know in good time what platform this will be, and when.

What’s next?
- In the near future, the BSS logo is likely to appear more and more frequently in the context of common tasks and other projects.

Which way will the Community benefit?
- For a while averything will remain familiar to you, but you you can be sure to detect constructions and weapons, which are also used by other MODs. As a result for the benefit of all MODs there will be a greater variety, because everything will have to be developed only once. Who wants to have four different G36-sounds? For all the MODs we need just one solution to every problem, which allows us to provide improved aid to all the MODs’s fans.If any of them should need help, they’ll be welcome on the BSS-Forum, where assistance will be found to solve problems around the MODs connected with BF2.

There is, after all a bit of news on OPK:

Presently a few problems are still impeding the release of OPK version 0.18, but we are confident to get a grip on them and to release it soon. We are already working on the content of 0.2. We promise we will not take as much time as we did after 0.15 and 0.18 until the following releases.

The OPK team would like to give spezial thanks to:

- Kampfwiesel who has got deeply involved with OPF since BFV. For several years he was the author of news, wallpapers, and the 2D-artist for the design of Serbian equipment. He is going to continue freelancing and will always be welcome as a friend and companion. We wish him success in his future projects.

- to Nightslinger, the founder and 2D-artist of OPK, who for private reasons is presently only able to give his attention and moral support to his team, after “spraying” so many Bundeswehr vehicles. We are dying to welcome him back on the team.

- to Websky, our one and only Polish team. He used to be active on behalf of OPK designing vehicles. Everybody who has been sitting in an „M84 MBT“ before, will be sure to appreciate the quality of his vehicles. After his simultaneous activities for OPK and Battlegroup Frontlines both team are going to miss him.

We wish all of them good luck for their private and professional future!

The good news, at last:

- We also are happy to welcome a new member. Wyvern will reinforce the team in the field of modelling. We hope to present his first results soon.
- Kantholz will also strengthen the team’s power through his work on the homepage, which he intents to update in several areas.

But we are still looking for new supporters who can do
- PR, News & Communty liaison service
- 3D-artists
- 2D-artists
- Coder
