A small patch to the soldier kits of the NWM mod that makes a plethora of hidden weapons playable. Adds 105 powerful new soldier loadouts spread over the four factions, available on all maps.
Secret Weapons of the Night Watch Militia
(version 1.1)
The NWM mod, by default, adds special, crazy, powerful loadouts to the USMC team on the special NWM maps. For whatever reason, the AIX maps and the other factions (MEC, CN, UN) are not edited. I took it upon myself to remedy that. Turns out there's a great many weapons in the NWM mod folder that are already present, but just aren't being used. This little patch makes available as many of them as I found to be operational.
Also fixes a bot problem with the special NWM gadgets: On NWM maps, the USMC bots could regularly be seen swapped to the SIMRAD airstrike or the deployable turrets without being able to use them. I have now corrected this issue, and bots will no longer attempt to use these gadgets.
Releasing at exactly 00:00 on the 1st of January, in order to start 2024 with a bang. Or at least I told it to release then, but it released an hour later anyway.
Multiple loadouts per kit have been made. Make sure you have unlocks available.
Play with the following new weapons:
- ACR (iron sights and M145): deadly accuracy at short and medium range;
- 9A-91: kicks like a mule but hits like one too;
- PP2000: in short bursts, reliable even to longer ranges;
- SCAR-H: strong and slick and powerful;
- AKs-74U (tweaked): the classic and the best;
- RPK-74 (tweaked): the classic, but supersized;
- AK-47 (red dot sight), AK-74 (SOPMOD conversion/holo sight): it doesn't get better than old faithful;
- M60: the Pig is as hungry and as frightening as ever;
- QBB-95 LMG: to complement the regular AIX chinese LMG;
- PDR, F2000, AUG A3, JNG-90: straight from BF3, it seems, and just as satisfying to use;
- Mk 14 EBR (holo sight): handles distinctly from the AIX version;
- GOL Magnum, L96A1, SVD, PP-19: new meshes, unfortunately using old animations – but the stats have been tweaked;
- StG 44, Sterling SMG, sawn-off scattergun, MP-412 REX, MP-443 Grach, UTS-15: to make sure your secondary slot sees some use at last.
- Machetes, katanas, and screwdrivers to complement the Rambo knife added by the base NWM mod.
NOTE: Old weapons have been denoted in the tables below as "old" (base BF2) or "AIX", as per their source. The throwing knives, made less prominent, are also unchanged from AIX.
ALSO: All maps in the mod should be using the new kits, but if you find a map that doesn't use them, let me know.
Faction Kits: USMC
The USMC bring an assortment of NATO guns to the table. These are mostly the NWM-specific kits, now unified between the NWM maps and all other maps.
Faction Kits: MEC
The MEC soldiers favour Russian weaponry, keeping in with the BF2 traditions. A varied arsenal of heavier weaponry and reliance on shotgun sidearms ensures consistent and reliable firepower in the field.
Whilst the other classes were partying and having premarital relations with women, the MEC Assault studied the blade and cultivated inner strength. Now the world's on fire, it has come to him to save it. Killing enemies with the katana restores your health fully. BANZAI!
Faction Kits: China
Team China relies on a mix of Russian and Western weaponry, and enjoys a number of anachronistic weapons as sidearms.
After the annexation of Japan by Chinese forces in 20XX, Chinese special/covert operations soldiers have been trained in the use of glorious Nippon steel that has been folded 69 times to cut through anything. Killing enemies with the katana restores your health fully. For the glory of the Emperor... I mean the Party.
Faction Kits: United Nations
The arsenal of the Blue Helmets is as eclectic as its members. The UN fields a diverse assortment of weaponry from all over the world, with no regard to cohesion. They also have the most loadouts available per class, to embody this freedom of choice.
The sages know that all free and mighty men, of the Occident or the Orient, are Samurai in their own way. Knowing this, and envious of the MEC Assault, the UN Assault and Spec Ops also began studying the blade, relying on their deadly-sharp katanas that can cut through anything. Killing enemies with the katana restores your health fully. Because it's funny. I actually wanted to make the katana speed you up or regenerate your stamina or refill it on kills, but that didn't seem to be possible (or easy to figure out, at least), so this is what we're stuck with.
Changelog
- v.1.1
- Updated the v2 Chinese loadouts (used on some maps, not sure which) that hadn't been updated.
- Updated the US_Support_SAW kit (used on maps like Dragon Valley). Instead of an M240 on the first loadout, this kit fields an M249. Everything else is the same as the normal USMC support kit.
Patch updated to 1.1, fixing a couple of tiny oversights with missed kits. All maps should now field the new kits, without exception.
