Next Generation Wars NGW is a singleplayer mod for UT3. In Next Generation Wars, you will play either of the 3 races: Humans Robots or Aliens Each race has different, but balanced weapons, and you can choose from 3 classes to start you squad with. The goal is to defend or regain your settlement from the enemy, by taking and holding several checkpoints, in each mission of the city. Missions are represented by districts, and include having to blow up or disable enemy establishments, infiltrating into enemy camps, or simply clearing the area. Each city will feature 6-7 missions, and after the city has been regained, the battlefield will move to the now defending enemy, where you will have to shut down vital parts of their settlements, such as power plants, or religious buildings. When all the missions of the two opposing cities have been completed, the battlefield will shift to a different...

This news post is an update on the UT3 (Yes, I decided at last...) mod: Next Generation Wars. Some people requested on the profile page, and so, here it is. Read it and learn.

Well, true to my post on the mod profile, here's the update I promised. I'll divide it up in a few pieces for you:

  • The Story : What I changed/added so far (Compressed)

  • The website : What's going to be changed.
  • Concept images : What i've been upto so far.

The Story: What I changed/added so far.


 

The story is still pretty much the same, ancient alien race being discovered, robots gone haywire, humans driven to main strongholds of cities... But now it's a little bit different from the human point of view. The original GDD says:

The Human race is crumbled. Aliens and robots devastated most of the defenceless cities, and gained them as their own places to live, produce, and prepare for war.

There are just a few Human establishments left here on earth, which consist of improvised defences, and confused citizens.


Now, the new thing should be:

The Human Race has endured lots of strikes from the "Aliens", or the Cripta, as researchers call them. Capital cities have shifted throughout the decades, yet, the shifting has come to a halt. Capital cities have strong defences built up, and were transformed from cultural hotspots, to military beehives. About 37 years before the game starts, French authorities demolished the Eiffel tower, because of it being an obvious landmark, and the commence of tank production. Yet, before a large group of armored vehicles could be established, the city was struck by a power failure, and overrun by Cripta forces.

Thus Berlin came to be the "Capital" of the Europe section. It is here where your story starts, as a recruit of the special squads, who are to be dispatched around the world, to get the Cripta and the robots.


On the Cripta side, a lot has changed. The Cripta aren't aliens anymore, nor are they zombies. Both are WAY to cliché to me, please comment if you think they're not...

The Cripta are an ancient force, they're not so much evil, they just have a general dislike of humans. The Cripta are mutated humans, their leadership skills have dominated humans for centuries. When they died, the humans buried them in a traditional matter, and made their offspring their new leader.

Until they started resisting.

The "People" of the country disliked this Elite species of human beings, and became rulers of their countries. Although not as superior, riots stopped, as all were treated more fair.

Over the years, the bodies of the Cripta have remained, and mutated even further. DNA of dead, burrowing creatures, such as scorpions, was absorbed, and slowly, life started running through the veins of the bodies again...


That's pretty much it for those two races, Read more of the story changes in the (hopefully) Soon to be release, updated GDD.

The website : What's going to be changed.

The website will still be in Flash, but i plan on making it more interactive, and with an animated background. If anyone wants to help, I'll be happy to receive a PM.

Well, this obviously includes the new logo for NGW, as seen on the profile pic, and the webpage design.

Features : Added/Changed things you should be able to do.

Well, I hate to tell you this, but I decided that Cripta/Robots shouldn't be a playable race. Not for now that is, if I even get a team to do this mod... Anyway, only humans, the defensice race, should be played, since the complexity of adding 2 more campaigns. On the other hand, it allows more room for more classes and more weapons for each squad. because it will remain a squadbased tactical shooter.

I'm not planning on adding vehicles yet. The missions should mostly be medium-small maps, in urban areas, this doesn't mean that i wouldn't propose adding a large map here and there, it just wouldn't be fair.econ class is now Marksman. Recon is a quicker, lighter armored type, with the R-MAR as a weapon, and Gas Bullet as an extra. Markman will keep the Archr-21 Sniper Rifle.

Proposed weapons are:

R-MAR: Recon Medium Assualt Rifle. For the quick recon types, who try to sneak behind enemy lines, there's the R-MAR.

Gas Bullet: A lethal dose of gas is released out of the backside of the bullet on impact. This will cause most organic enemies to choke to death, or become more vurnerable. Available to the Recon Class.

EMP Pistol: This Pistol is armed with Electro Magnetic Pulse Rounds, making it a nightmare for any mechanic enemy, disturbing it's systems. and causing it to go haywire. Available to the Engineer.

Spray Gun/Shotgun - SG42: Instead of the well known blast of ballistic bullets, this weapon charges it's lasers, and sprays them out spiraling towards the enemy. Blasting through armor and skin on medium to short distances, it has the so feared recoil, and inaccuracy at longer ranges. Supplied to the Heavy Infantryman.

Well, as you see, I've got a story, I've got an engine, a website, and lots of ideas. However, I lack crucial abilities, like modelling, animating, mappin, and coding. Also, I'm not the best at drawing characters and enviroments. So people, please help me get a team together, so we can build this mod, and lets hundreds, no, thousands of people enjoy it! I'll be waiting for your PM's, and job requests will be placed on the official spot soon.

I hope you all enjoyed reading this (I enjoyed writing it!) And i hope to see you in my team one day!
