Looking good! im tracking it!

Looks great! I'm tracking it! Just a few tips/concerns:

1) I'm wondering what your plan is for the Realm of Valinor. Are you going to be including Maiar and Valar? It just seems that could either super imbalance the game, or really cheapen them.

2) Dol Guldur (Amon Lanc during the Second Age) was the capital of the Silvan Elf realm of Mirkwood. It shouldn't be Mordor's in the Second Age.

3) Dunland wasn't founded until after Gondor/Numenor drove the Dunlendings from the White Mountains. I would suggest lumping Dunland in with the Clans of Enedwaith. :)

4) Eotheod was not founded until the mid Third Age, when the Kingdom(s) of Rhovanion were destroyed by the Easterlings. However, there would be lands inhabited by Northmen there. Just not Eotheod.

Sorry for presuming to say this, but I just thought I would throw these out there.

Hi treefoz,

First of all many thanks for the tips - I actually encourage everyone landing here to give us feedbacks as currently we cannot cover both accurate historical data, game logic and development in the same time.

To answer your questions...

1) There will be some Valars as generals and yes, they will have extraordinary stats. Basically it's the only way to create a counter-part for Numenor in case they go to war (and if not handled wright, leading to Numenor's destruction).

2) Many thanks for the tip

3) Noted :)

4) Very interesting. In this case we will keep DAC's Vale of Anduin. Maybe add a "Kingdom of Rhovanion" ?

All the best,
Theo

Hello theo500,

Thanks for the response. I am more than happy to help with feedback and the like if that's what you want.

In response to your responses then:

1) That could be very interesting. I look forward to seeing how that is done.

2) You're welcome.

3) <nothing more really to say here>

4) I think it would be best to create either a group of "Princedoms of Rhovanion" mini-factions or just a "Northmen of Rhovanion" or "Rhovanion" faction. The Kingdom of Rhovanion seems to have only ever existed once Gondor was around to support it. It was founded because one of the princes received the backing of Gondor and proclaimed himself as a king in the Third Age.

Also, something else I have noted going through again:

5) Erebor, as a kingdom, did not exist until after the Dwarves were driven out of Moria in the Third Age. Instead, I recommend making it a part of the Khazad-dum/Moria faction, just as a minor settlement. Instead, if you would like a second (smaller) Dwarf faction that is accurate to the lore, keeping the Dwarves of Ered Luin might be a better option.

Good luck, and I'm happy to help wherever I can,
treefoz

You are missing the elven realm of Lothlorien, it was founded since the end of the First Age.

By the way, it sounds interesting, I will also keep an eye on this submod.

I may not know about 3D modeling but if you want suggestions and ideas about the units and factions I can help.

A recommendation would be that if this mod will be about Numenor's expansion there would have to be 2 Numenorean factions, the faithfull (good numenorean guys) and those who under the leadership of Ar Pharazon followed Sauron.

Regarding the faithfulls, the initial plan was to have it as standalone faction, maybe with one settlement in numenor and another one in eriador. But i am not sure - i would want to avoid conflicts between numenorean factions... plus there will be to many good factions on the map.
Anyways, can you please pm me with your ideas and suggestions? I would bw very interested to have a look
Or you can share it here, maybe others can comment as well... many thaks!!

You're welcome!!!

Just highlighting again that Lothlorien is missing and it was founded at the end of the first age, it would help your mod to be more "lore-friendly", also the Avari elves were present during that time and there are some of their units in DAC submod.

I think the division of numenorean factions will be necessary, if you are focusing on campaign, you can start with Numenor and the North Settlements and allies, and it can change depending on the choices that are made by Numenor. Also if your mod will support online custom battles there will be a lot of playes (I would be one of them) that will want to play custom battles of Kingsmen vs Faithful.

I have never heard or read anything of Raj, Acaana, Arthanor and Bellakar. Just try to not overpopulate the mod with "clans and tribesmen" factions wich is something that I did not like from Divide and Conquer mod, it was like a waste of space for me, which could be have been better used with something more interesting and LotR lore content (for example adding a Black Numenorean faction). I also agree with merging the dunlendings with Enedwaith and by adding the kingdom of Rhovanion, it could be easier to just rename Eotheoed with Rhovanion and add a few more "fancy" and better armored units inspired in Rohan.

I have more suggestions but I'm at work right now I will write later.

PD. I cannot wait to play the pre-alpha. xD

Bullet points :)

- Will probably add the elendili
- There will be an "avari" realm south of orocarni mountains (dwarves of erebor will also be renamed and moved in orocarni)
- Lorien will be added (i just missed it)
- All those realms (arthanor, raj) will be removed and replaced with lore friendly versions - those were taken from merp
- regarding number of factions there will be 30 -max number allowed by m2tw. Reason: i played Dac then returned to Mos but it felt boring. Couldn't play more than 1 hour. However the factions will not be balanced as in Dac. There will be some very powerful and others that wont have a chance and be eliminated very quick. But the game has to bring something exotic and new to the table

Overall the faction list above is not accurate anymore. I will update it soon

Once again many thanks

The Realm of Galadhrim and Lothlorien is the same thing.
Galadh means Tree and rim means people, so Galadhrim means Tree-people. The Galadhrim are the elves who live in lothlorien :)

Amazing factions update! I did not saw the realm of Eregion and shadow of Ungoliant coming!!!! Wait... Orcs riding giant spiders?!!! It could work, I think it's not lore-friendly but anyways it would give them an unique touch! CONGRATULATIONS!! KEEP IT UP!!!
