Metroid Online is continuing it's progress on Halo Custom Edition, it seems, and will continue on into the afterlife with a port to Halo 2 Vista. We finally (after 2 years of working on it) got the morphball to work, and heck, we even have a video to prove it!
Within the video you will see entering, exiting, and rolling around in the morphball, as well as some poorly designed bombs (just a placeholder). We also showcase some of the beams as we currently have them, but they will go through a complete overhaul before release.
Here's a pic of the new HUD (yes, I know the icons are missing):

Looking pretty good, although you might get hit by a Nintendo C&D if you're not careful. Good luck regardless. ;)
As far as the C&D is concerned, we've been working on this off and on for 4 years now. If they really wanted to take us down, they would have probably done it by now. I don't rule out the possibility, but if it happens, I'm not too worried.
Another thing to deter is the fact that we already have a public beta out that has our biped, our beams and our HUD, as well as our Tallon IV map (it was leaked, but still). There never seems to be too much interest with Nintendo into fan-projects unless they are trying to make money off of it, it seems to me. I'm buddies with the Zelda Online Halo CE project as well, and we both have tried contacting Nintendo in regards to our mods, and all we got in response in that Nintendo will not officially sponsor any fan-projects.. and that's pretty much it.
I really hope we can wrap this in the next few weeks as Halo 2 Vista is scheduled to release this week, and with a fresh new editing kit to play around with, it'd be great if we could just port it over and hit the community with something awesome to play around with.
That's because they wait until you're about to/have a release to make you learn your lesson.
We are close enough that we could release very soon..
Hey, if it happens, it happens. At least we already have something playable out in the open ^_^
And what is my lesson again? Using custom models and custom textures and custom animations, without ripping anything like other Nintendo-mod fan projects? The only reason I started this mod was so people could enjoy a new way to play Metroid, a game that will never ever EVER show itself on the PC. The PC is not a platform where Nintendo thrives, it won't hurt any of their business, and Halo fans will get a taste of the Metroid universe. I respect the franchise, oh how I do, and Nintendo won't lose any revenue of a map created for Halo. Technically speaking, it's not even a full conversion :P
Did I even imagine this mod would become this big when I first started in 2004? No way, but I'm glad it has, and it's good to see a Metroid mod finally coming to fruition.
Lol, it's not that we're shooting you down of your hopes and dreams, but rather letting you know the harsh reality of what happens to some teams (look at "Chrono Ressurection" and "Halogen" for good examples). I'm sure you'll get your release out and be very proud of it, but please, don't be surprised if Nintendo comes knocking at your door. That's all we're saying -- we support teams that have put a lot of work into the mods they create.Just please, don't take our words as a personal attack or anything. ;)
Seems like you say it EVERY time. Anyway, good luck with this.
