You've watched the documentaries. You've seen the films. You've read the books. Now play a mod that delivers that realism you've always desired.
Such an amazing mod, for such an game like Battle of Empires 1914-1918.
It's atmospheric, and has stunning music/voice packed into one tight bundle. Runs very well for being so big maps and large texture difference from previous mods. The UI is great, I could not possible imagine anything better. Very much love has been put into the different buttons leading to Campaign, Multiplayer, Options, etc. Textures on units are stunning, its not like thoose games where tiny icons are washedout/bad quality to prevent something getting out, like hiding the Swastika under poor quality, or muffling other non apropiate decals. The maps are big, the ranges are long, and most of all, the battlefield is deadly. Tanks feels beastly, tough some seem alittle overpowered, artillery works quite well and gives a punching feel to each shot, the 88mm FlaK actually works like an artillery piece, there are alot of small other functions, turn off/on engine, cupole open/close, etc. Some tanks seem to lack a commander for some reason, nevertheless, it is still very awesome, units reacts to actions. Radios can be heard calling for artillery support, tanks can be heard having enemy spotted, not only that, the tanks sound amazing. that this could be done, that nobody have done before. There has been some crashes, yes, but that is to be expected, atleast from me becaue of the crashing reputation of other games, and yes, I accept the mod may not be completely polished, but that is mereley a blink of an eye to me as a problem. The maps that are, are very detailed, but not too detailed either, wich is a good thing, both to the eye and the FPS. When you control the battle, it feels real, it feels heavy.
Now... There is along road ahead of me doing editor learning/work to get to enjoy this mod efficiently. Perhaps, even more work learning to play good in Multiplayer. Nevertheless, I'll probably get trough in the end.
Once you have enabled this mod, there is no going back.
