As you may know, you have assigned me and a few others to investigate the odd disappearances around the isle. I have witnessed these events firsthand, as my wife and two children went out one day and never returned. I am honored to lead the investigation, I assure you, but I would rather live to see the Sun rise once more than go out tonight. This is a formal request to delay the investigation a day or so. Even so, I assure you that I want to locate my family. It's only that my men are not as prepared for the journey into the tunnels as I would like them to be, as we only have enough supplies to explore a small amount of tunnels that go all around the isle.

We've been down in these tunnels for weeks leading an investigation into the odd disappearances of villagers around the isle. Most of my men are dead; murdered by something in the dark. Only three of us, including me, are still alive. We're bumping around in the dark down here. We'd light the way with torches, but we're out. We're nearly out of supplies and haven't slept ever since we've gotten lost. If only we could find the light, we'd have our way out. But instead, we're down here, lost in the dark."
