2# Blog Update – 08/08/2019 – Mordor - by DKStranger
Hey there everyone, long time since any official messages from the team behind the mod. This summer however, we have made huge huge progress. Therefore, we feel comfortable showing off some of what we have worked on.

Today we will be focusing on the region of Mordor and of course the famed nation itself.
First off, we are very happy with the work on the new heightmap and Texturemap, Mordor and Mount Doom looks that more terrifying.
You will notice a higher country count, but maybe most important would be the Nation playable from the start bookmark in 2758: Minas Morgul. Minas Morgul has been occupied by the Witch-king of Angmar since 2002. We are working on ways of buffing the nation so it could withstand attacks from Gondor.

Since 2758 to 2942 Minas Morgul in collaboration with Haradrim and Rhûn have attacked and weakened Gondor to the point where Gondor had to abandon most of Ithilien as you can see from the following bookmark.
When Sauron appears in 2942 and forms Mordor, most of the Ithilien provinces are handed over to its master and Minas Morgul becomes a March. (If a player is Minas Morgul when Mordor appears, the player will be given the opportunity to change to play as Mordor).
Also, Mordor has gained the vassal of Núrnoth a nation of enslaved Nûrniags, while Nûrn in the south still resists the power of Mordor.
Lastly around the War of the Ring the Orc nations of Nûrn joined Mordor. Lugalin a Variag nation has been conquered and split between the remaining nations.
Our focus with the new update has been to Increase Mordors power as Gondor in the current version of the mod has always been the big blue blop. We are confident that Mordor will be a worthy enemy for Gondor.

Old Mordor Region Province Count: 36
Old Mordor Area Count: 6
New Mordor Region Province Count: 89
New Mordor Area Count: 17

Mordor start

Mordor early

Mordor medium

Mordor late

This post might be a bit small compared to the amount of work we have been doing, but we have planned the next couple of posts which we will post the coming weeks.

Will you guys make more articles like this? The ones like Gondor & Mordor?
I would like to see The shire?
Also does The shire have events or something that influence Frodo’s journey? And likewise can you do something to stop him when playing as Mordor or Isengard?

Might be hard to do one about The Shire, but we plan to make an article about Frodo's journey soon. I hope your questions will be answered in the article.
