Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.

Description

We have two new air to ground missiles we will be showcasing today. Both of them where made by our newest member, Omer. He is very talented at both modeling & texturing.
The AGM-78 Standard ARM was a large anti-radiation missile, developed to destroy enemy radar & SAM sites after the Americans had bitter encounters with Soviet SAMs in the Vietnam war. The AGM-78 offered a larger warhead, greater range and better guidance system than previous ARM missiles. The missile could lock on and find an enemy radar even after the radar was shut off, a common tactic used by radar opertors. During the later stages of the Yom Kippur War, Isreal used advanced missiles like the TV guided AGM-65 Maverick, AGM-78 and wire guiede tow missiles to great affect. The AGM-65 & 78 missiles gave Israeli aircraft the ability to destroy radar & SAM sites that had previously caused very heavy losses.
