Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.
The Aérospatiale Alouette II (French, Lark) is a French light helicopter. It is the first production helicopter to be powered by a gas turbine engine instead of the conventional heavier piston powerplant. In 1955, the prototype performed its maiden flight. The Alouette II was a very popular military and civilian helicopter. It was mostly used for military purposes in observation, photography, air-sea rescue, liaison and training, but it has also carried anti-tank missiles and machine guns.
In return for Israel's cooperation with France during the 1956 Suez Crisis, France provided some of the most modern military equipment they had to offer including the Alouette II. The Alouette II's were very popular with the IAF and took part in every military operation unitl being retired in the 1980's. The compact cockpit was provided with a dome-shapred windscreen which provided for excellent levels of external visibility. It was the first helicopter worldwide to be equipped with anti-tank munitions in the form of the SS.11 wire-guided anti-tank missile. It could also be armed with machine guns.

I wonder, do you consider expanding to the first Lebanon war/Operation Peace for Galilee?
We defiantly want to expand the mod to include other wars in the future. The 1948, 1956 and 1982 wars are other wars we will consider adding in the future.
Will you include armed versions (MG ? Rocket pods or SS-11 ATGMs maybe ) ?
Probably not the rocket pod of ATGM version but maybe the MG version. The Israel's may have tested the armed versions but I am pretty sure they were not used in combat. It will be a scout/recon helicopter, very fun to fly around.
Amazing that the entire engine and transmission are completely exposed to outside elements.
Yeah it does seem strange, I guess it makes access to the engine easy. I do know that these early helicopters required a lot of maintenance, maybe that's why the did it.
That or heat. Jet engines only begun appearing in the military use so it is likely they had no good way to take care of it. Not to mention barring nighttime, desert's aren't exactly the coolest place the world.
