Israeli Defense Force: Fight for Independence is a Total Conversion modification for the PC game Battlefield 2 (A.K.A. BF2). What we aim to achieve with this mod is to immerse the player into the historic wars involving Israel, Syria, Egypt, and Jordan, which are the 6-Day War, the War of Attrition, and the Yom Kippur War. The player will be able to play as a common soldier, crewmember, or pilot in these wars. The mod will feature historically accurate equipment such as the famous Russian AK-47, the fearsome SO-4050 bomber, the menacing IS3 and M48 tanks, and much, much more. Also, the maps will recreate actual battles that happened in these wars, to complete a historically-accurate and immersive modification. IDF:FFI is also a member of the acclaimed cooperative gaming studio Black Sand Studios.

Description

We have two new armed and deadly Gaz-69 versions to share with you in addition to our standard transport version.

The Gaz-69 4x4 utility truck produced by GAZ (Gorky Automobile Factory) between 1953 and 1956 and then by UAZ, in 1956–1972. The Gaz-69 appeared in every war-zone of the Middle-East and Asia throughout the last 50 years. This little work-horse was the Soviet equivalent of the American "Jeep" during the cold war years. Over 600,000 GAZ-69s had been built by the end of production in the USSR in 1972. GAZ-69s were standard military jeeps of the Eastern Bloc and allied countries. Export including most of the Arab armies which received Soviet arms during this time period were equipped with various versions of this very useful vehicle. The base model truck was used for troop transport, communications and armed reconnaissance.

In the armed reconnaissance role a heavy machine gun mounted on a tripod could be installed. The Gaz-69 could also tow many lighter weapons systems such the ZPU and ZSU series anti-aircraft guns. They could also haul light artillery and recoilless rifles. In the Yom Kippur War Egypt and Syria, mounted B-11 107mm recoilless rifles directly on the chassis of the Gaz-69 to create a recoilless rifle carrier. This was a unique field modification which included custom made ammunition storage system mounted to the sides of the vehicle. Egyptian forces used these recoilless rifle armed trucks along with tank hunting teams in their initial surge across the canal until heavier weapons and tanks could arrive.
