You are an urban explorer, set to find the hidden gems of modern society. One day, you wake up inside what looks to be an abandoned hospital, without remembering how you got there. The door is blocked by parts of the celling, and there is blood on the ground. Your blood? There is also a faint smell of sulphur. Without any visible exits, there is only one option... To go deeper in to the facility and find what was supposed to be forgotten. Hypomania is a Hl2 Horror Mod loosely based on the 'creepypasta' story "Russian Sleeping Experiment". The game takes places in what appear to be an abandoned hospital, with horrors lurking about following your every move. The game consists of some basic puzzles and a lot of story to be discovered.

A little heads-up on the current status, a bit more info about the project and info about a little issue that we have run into.

Hypomania is intended to be a horror mod, with a play style similar to that of Nightmare house. The game will be very story focused, using notes and documents in-game to deliver the story. There will be no weapons or other means of defending yourself.

This mod is being
made as a school project. Said project will end in April, so we will have a release by then. That release might not be the end of the mod however, we might keep adding stuff as we learn etc.

On to our current status!

Currently the game is made up of 3 smaller maps, taking place in an abandoned hospital, along with some other facilities. Unlike the creepy-pasta, the game is not set in Russia. This is mostly because we don't know Russian.

The game differs from the original story in another way, and that is time period. It is no longer set in the 1940's, but more along the lines of the 1990's. The political prisoner aspect is also removed, mainly because it allows for more character writing and similar.

On the coding aspect, we have run in to a "small" problem:
Creating a VGUI panel that can load HTML-files through console input. There are tutorials for this, though they seem to be for an older version of the source engine (2007 vs the one we use, 2013). If anyone got any tips on this, that would be fantastic. In case we do not get this working we will be looking into other means of story-delivering, however that will probably not be as pretty.

Parallel with all this, we are also making music for the game. A sample of the soundtrack should be up by the end of this week (hopefully).

That is all for this weeks report! If you have anything on your mind, just ask in the comment and we might address it!
