Hexen II - Shadows of Chaos is a mod/mini mission pack for Hexen 2, melding elements of heretic and hexen 1 into the newer title. Based on a heavily modified version of the excellent game of tomes mod, it features revamped classes, alternate fires based on your player level, new maps and enemies, and much more brutal gore to bring it closer to hexen 1 in tone. Experience Hexen 2 with new twists, puzzles, and full coop support on large maps thanks to spike's addition of BSP2 support
A simple patch for Hexen II: Shadows of Chaos that replaces the Paladins Guantlets with a Crossbow.
A Crossbow for Paladin v.1 - For Hexen II: Shadows of Chaos.
This is a mini-mod or add-on for the Hexen II mod, Shadows of Chaos. Like the name suggests, it replaces the Paladin's Gauntlets with the Assassin's Crossbow. The Assassin still keeps hers btw, only the Paladin's default weapon is affected by this add-on. No other code was altered in any way.
This little add-on was developed from the SoC source provided by bloodshot12, the creator of SoC.
Installation: First make a backup of your SoC progs.dat! Then simply copy and paste the progs.dat file contained in the Crossbow_for_Paladin.zip into your SoC folder - NOT your main Hexen II data1 folder! Once that's simply start SoC normally and choose the Paladin class - or simply load a previous save.
If you wish to get your Gauntlets back, simply paste the Original SoC progs.dat file back over mine. This is why making a backup of the SoC progs.dat is important!
Two things to note about the Crossbow:
First, it doesn't appear at first if you start a new game. You have to first acquire the Sword, then switch back to the 'Gauntlets' for it to appear. Luckily, the Sword is located right at the start of SoC, in front of the well. Simply run past the first few enemies and grab it!(if you load a previously saved game it should appear instantly...)
In addition, when you run out of ammo(or Mana) for the Crossbow, it won't automatically switch to a different weapon, but it will still 'fire' however, no bolt will actually be fired. Simply switch back to Sword for a bit until you find more Mana, then it will function normally again.
I hope you enjoy it!
