Heretic Darkness v.13L file

Dude I double click on the bat file but it does nothing :(

1/ For ertugrulakyol . Prove to move the file opengl32.dll , it is for windows 32 bits . If you have windows 64 bits any times the game do not go . I have solved that problem in any games renaming that file as "for windows XP - opengl32.dll"
Do not rename openAl32.dll, the sound of the game need it .

2/ For Jack_in_the_Nox : in the file starter + Heretic Darkness +.bat there is two little problems :
- the file RoC_Korax.pk3 it not in the download . And i can´t meet it in google.
- in the line " relighting v4.0159b.pk3 " there is a space between the two words,
so gzdoom.exe look for two files and do not load that mod.
But if you joint those two words with a line ( relighting_v4.0159b.pk3 ) and load that mod , the graphics go to black and white , so you can delete that mod , it is not compatible with another mod.

People can make this patch for to see the game better :

HOW The PACTH WORK :
This mod "Heretic Darkness" use another mod : " Heretic HD PBR " of Andrew Doomer ; with textures 3D parallax . But this mod need the file HERETIC_REMADE.wad , and in this last version that file ist not.
In the download of previous versions of Heretic Darkness, it was this two files : HERETIC_REMADE.wad , and BrutalHeretic-HD-Maps.wad ; both files changes a little the original maps of Heretic . But gzdoom can load only one ; and the better is... " HERETIC_REMADE.wad " , with this file the textures are darker . The autor of HERETIC_REMADE.wad has inserted more torchs and so the game have better lights . If you play the two first levels with every file, you will see that with HERETIC_REMADE.wad the game ist more nice with oiled textures .

The autor of the mod Heretic PBR HD has remake only the maps of the first three episodes ( = the first Heretic v.1.2 ) . So , for play the other episodes of this mod Heretic Darkness , this patch is not mandatory .

MAKING THE PATCH .

1/ Download a previous version of this mod Heretic Darkeness : the v.alpha or the v.13 ( here in moddb.com )

2/ inside this old version , copy the file " HERETIC_REMADE.wad " and paste into the path of the last version "Heretic Darkness v.1.3.L "

3/ With the note book of windows open the file launcher "+ Heretic Darness +.bat ".

Delete the words " BrutalHereticRPG-HD-3D-Maps.wad " , and insert the new file with maps , like so : " gzdoom -file HERETIC_Relight_Maps.WAD HERETIC_REMADE.wad BrutalHeret......"

Be carefull with the order , " HERETIC_REMADE.wad " must be in first or two place of the files , before the BrutalsHereticV.2.PK3

Save it as " + play darker +.bat "

With this file launcher , you will see the 3 original episodes of Heretic better , darker , with more wonderfull oiled textures .

But in the episode 7 and 8 this launcher don´t work . For play both new episodes you must use the normal launcher of this mod : " + Heretic Darkness +.bat "

A bug :
when you are walking over lava , the sound " ah! ah! ah! ..." , don´t go.

Solution : people must edit the file launcher + Heretic Darkness +.BAT ,
and delete "Book.pk3"

And when i am walking over acid , i think i am walking over water because i don´t ear " ah! ah! ah! ..." ( = i am diing ) ; but suddenly i die and go to the beginning of the level ; that make me unhappy .

The problem is in the mod BOOK.pk3 ; if you don´t load it , the sound go well .

Maybe book.pk3 is not compatible with another mod ( ¿ Brutals...? )

I have tryed many ways for solve it , but nothing go perfect .

This is the fast solution for me : to choose between
play with the book-arm , or with the sound "walking over lava" .

And the better is... the sound . I enjoy more the game with the sound well , because :

- with the sound well , i can play without problems , only go! go! go! . But with the book-arm , i don´t play more , i close the game , and i go to look for the solution ( ¡¡ three days looking for the solution...!! )

- The book-arm is in 2D , that make the mod too old . Playing i think " ¿ why is this in 2d ? . I have seen in youtube the arms of Hexen 2 working in gzdoom-Hexen 1 , with a book in 3D . This guy must look for how insert here the book 3D of Hexen 2 ; another guy has made that..."

- Playing , any times i want to change of arm , but THERE IS TOO MUCH ARMS , i don´t find the arm i want , and enemies kill me .

- The book-arm is not new ; it is like another arms in Hexen 1 , Hexen 2 and the mod Bitter Heretic . So it is not mandatory to be in this mod , you can play that arm in anothers games . ( Now i am playing the mod Bitter Heretic , and the same book-arm is in )

MAKING A FAST PATCH FOR TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM :

- With the note book of windows edit the launcher + Heretic Darknes +.bat , delete BOOK.PK3 , and save it as + play with sound lava +.BAT

- for play the book-arm , when you are finished Heretic Darkness, download the mod Bitter Heretic in moddb.com ; it is funny .

i like more this mod without the book-weapon . Because this mod is very artistic ( the more artistic game i have seen , with oiled textures [ if you play it with the file REMADEmaps of Textures PBR , not with the maps remade by Brutal ] ).
But the book-weapon is in 2D , too old , does not combine in this mod so artistic.

I like aswell play Heretic mods in old 2d graphics . But i don´t like play mixing the two styles . Any days i play games in old style with sprites 2D , and another days i play modern games in 3D style .
Your mod with the book-weapon is more varied ; but so the art go down .
This mod is the most artistic game , and that ugly weapon not combine here .
Not problem , everyone will customize your game as they want . I... without the book.

I like Heretic from 1996 , and with your mod is the better heretic i have seen.

The next step in this mod is to improve the gold wand , it is too slow .

The player is many time with the gold wand , and when there is many enemies , i want shoot faster , but the weapon go slower , i die and i go to the begining ; that me unhappy.

This new golden wand is god for to see, no for to play

When i see the golden wand reloading , i smile , it is funny . And it have a light , it is very util , thank you for the light .

But fighting... it is a bad weapon ; i want another weapon faster .

i use many times the gold wand because my monitor is not IPS , and in darks rooms my screen go to black ; so i go back to the goldwand , it is the light faster . .

A BAD SOLUTION : cheat RAMBO . But cheating is not funny , to cheat make me unhappy . I want play the levels without cheating .

A BETTER SOLUTION : PLEASE :
- ¿ can you write here in the comments a fast patch for to improve the golden wand ? .
- ¿ where is the configuration of the golden wand , i would like to change the speed and the number of the ammo ? ( if it is easy , i am normal people, i don´t know make games ) I have opened the pk3s looking for the configuration of the golden wand , but i have not meeting it , there is many files where to look.

I have searched for information about the relighting mod,
and it is only for Doom
I've played it on Doom, and it's very very good.
But in Heretic it doesn't work.
The author of the mod says in a forum that it's only for doom, and it's true.
I think you can remove it from the launcher.bat
And if you keep including it in the download , add a "relighting.txt" warning " this mod is very good but it's only for Doom "

A BETTER CONFIGURATION FOR THE AUTOMAP VERY USEFUL ( = like Doom ).

- in Miscellaneous Options : enable cheats from all games -> ON
- in automap optiones : line thickness -> 5

while gaming , in automap mode , cheat idbeholda ,
and you will see the rooms not seens in blue , go there .

if you like the changes , before exit of the game , go to menus and

"save current settings "
