SUPER QUICK PATCH NOTE 14 DECEMBER 2023

Not added or changed the readme due that it is something super minimal but important for new
players.

+ In the LOW_END_PC version of the mod, in the new mansion split level part 3. Changed the text, the
yellow key has three uses to two uses instead. This is because the player will not get the yellow key in
mansion split level part 4. This is to avoid confusion in-case someone new was playing this version and
to avoid having someone looking through all the level to find the other usage. If you played the mod
before, especially multiple times, this information is not relevant. You can ignore this mini-update. This
is more aimed at new players who may get confused because of that line of text.

Note: In the original default version this key has three uses. The original version is included as the option
1 and it is intact as it was in 2017 but with the November 2023 fixes to run in the latest Epic Games
HelloNeighbor Modkit 4.20.3. I personally recommend to play the Option 1 Default since it is the closest
one to how we made the mod back in 2017. Thanks, and have fun!

PATCH NOTES 2 – 13 DECEMBER 2023

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS

BEFORE STARTING – PICK ONE MOD VERSION:

The goal is to get ONE VERSION of the following folder. “TheMansionModbyIknosabukandJamyzGenius” – But before grabbing it, please read below.

STEP 1. PICK ONE VERSION. DEPENDING ON YOUR PC.

1. OPTION 1 – DEFAULT 2017 WITH 2023 FIXES MOD VERSION – PERFORMANCE HEAVY – MAY RUN SLOW ON OLD COMPUTERS. This is the same release as the November Fix Revision 2023 for Modkit 4.20.3. Pick this if your computer can run anything usually at around or at least 30+ frames per second at 1080p and maximum settings. In general, if you play games and they run alright, use this one for the best experience. It is the closest one to the original 2017 mod experience as we meant it to be.

For high performance computers or high end. Or if you want to play the mod as close as possible as we made it back in 2017: Please pick the folder inside “OPTION_1_MOD_VERSION_DEFAULT_2017_WITH_FIXES_2023_VERSION_HIGH_END_PC_PERFORMANCE_HEAVY”

1. OPTION 2 – VERSION FOR LOW_END COMPUTERS –

MORE PERFORMANCE BUT THE MOD HAS A FEW TWEAKS AND MORE LOADING SCREENS. IT WILL RUN MUCH BETTER FPS-WISE. PICK THIS IF YOUR COMPUTER IS OLD OR NOT AS POWERFUL ENOUGH OR YOU STRUGGLE RUNNING OPTION 1. Pick this if your computer struggles to run most modern PC games at more than 30+ frames per second at 1080p at maximum settings. This version is optimized in some areas to play at higher FPS but it has more loading screens and some quality compromises.

If your computer is not as strong or high end. If it is a little bit old or your video card, ram, etc. is not strong enough. Please pick the one inside the folder “OPTION_2_MOD_VERSION_2023_FOR_LOW_END_COMPUTERS_MORE_PERFORMANCE”

STEP 2. NOW WE NEED TO INSTALL THE MOD VERSION SELECTED.

INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS;

+Download the ModKit from the Epic Games Launcher

+Drop the folder TheMansionModbyIknosabukandJamyzGenius inside your Plugins folder.

Folder Hierarchy: HelloNeighborModKit -> HelloNeighbor -> Plugins

+Open the ModKit

+When opened, click the eye icon at the bottom-right area of the screen in the content browser. It says “View Options”. Click it and then select “Show Plugin Content”

+When done, click in the top-left area of the content browser and click in the icon with the three white bars. It says “Show or hide sources panel” – If done well, a small new window will appear with all your ModKit folders at the bottom-left area of your ModKit screen.

+Scroll down on this window until you find the folder TheMansionModbyIknosabukandJamyzGenius. Click it, then open the folder Maps and then open the level The_Mansion_ByIknosabukandJamyzGeniusStartHere

+Press Play at the top area of the mod selection and that’s it. We hope you enjoy the Mansion! :]

Note: Please do not open any other maps if it is your first time playing the mansion since the map recommended above is the way it is meant to be started.

PATCH NOTES UPDATE 2

1. Made some small fixes on the Mansion 1 Map

+ Fixed some paintings not displaying proper material, especially in the basement area.

+ Fixed some golden-like material stuff not displaying the correct golden-like shiny material

+ Fixed cameras missing textures

+ Fixed big painting in one of the level 1 rooms not displaying the proper painting material.

1. MADE A VERSION FOR LOW_END PCS THAT IS MUCH MORE PERFORMANCE FRIENDLY.

This version is included in the “OPTION_2_MOD_VERSION_2023_FOR_LOW_END_COMPUTERS_MORE_PERFORMANCE” folder. Treat it kind of like if it was a copy of the DEFAULT 2023 version of the mod, but with tweaked files and levels for best performance FPS.

For this one, I only tweaked the Mansion Level 1 Map and split it in parts. Most levels seem to run alright. Small tweaks were made to some levels.

The Mansion Map now is split into four parts. You will see more loading screens now but your FPS should be much higher and better. This is aimed to play at oldie computers that possibly do not have much VRAM or memory. I hope this patch helps to play in these PCs in case someone wanted to play but their PC was not able to handle the mod, especially the mega mansion level map.

NOTE! THERE IS A SAVE GAME BUG WHICH MAY HAPPEN RARELY BUT MAY HAPPEN. Only affects the new split version of Mansion map. If it happens to you that you went back to a level after playing all the levels and you get a key in your inventory. It happens mostly in the Mansion Level 1 Part 2. Please delete your save games from the ModKit.

NOTE: THIS WILL ERASE ALL YOUR SAVE GAMES, so if you have something important from another mod or anything related and you want to keep it. Please make a backup.

To fix this bug and delete your save games, do the following.

Go to your Installed HelloNeighbor Modkit folder.

By default: Epic Games\HelloNeighborModKit\

Then go to this folder:

HelloNeighbor\Saved\SaveGames

Delete the files you see there. All of them, usually there should be 4. Make sure the folder is clean.

Specific files to delete: gp.sav / os.sav / slot1. sav / ws.sav

You can do this with the ModKit open. After this is done, just re-run the level you want to play and it should work fine. No items in the inventory.

Some of the blueprints are tweaked for these levels to not save. For example, doors and keys. But there may be a bug where the key may load depending on how the game was saved. This should be rare, but if it happens the fix above will fix any issues.

EXTRA NOTES

+ Light was baked on most maps in order to increase some performance. Lightmaps use VRAM but some levels did seem to benefit FPS-wise from this. Not all levels baked. Light baked at medium settings.

+ For 99% of any potential bugs just please restart the level. But more bugs should be rare.

+ The default level 1 mega mansion map was removed from the LOW_END pc version. Now it is split into 4 smaller maps. The most performance heavy is the second part of these 4 mini-mansion maps. Progression should be very similar to the original one.

+ The main difference now is that after loading each level, you will not be able to carry the objects from the previous level. But I made sure to tweak things in a way that you will still have what you need available to you. Be on the lookout for extra flashlights. Any keys removed will not be needed anymore. Unfortunately, though, the experience is similar but not exactly the same as it was meant to be back in 2017 or in the default 2023 version. But it is very close. I think the trade-off to get more FPS is worth it so more people can play the mod. But you still get the original 2023 fixed version in the Option 1. So no worries :].

+ Most blueprints were tweaked to function with the LOW_END PC version of the mod. Please do not mix both because the mod may behave abnormally. I decided to split the mod versions so nothing could overlap and mess up other parts of the mod and so on. This is also to have two dedicated mod versions instead of an all in one that can take more space and possibly be buggier.

+ Many meshes have disabled shadow cast on the Mansion slip maps. Possibly the most performance heavy is Mansion 1 Part 2, which is where you get the blue and green keys. When it loads if it runs badly to you, just wait about 10 seconds or so and the level should stabilize. The FPS should go up at no maximum more of 20 seconds.

PATCH NOTES – NOV 17^TH 2023 FIX

Work done on November 16^th and 17^th 2023.

GENERAL BUGFIXES

+Fixed broken blueprints, now endings display properly on all levels and level transitions occur when needed. The mod is now playable from beginning to end.

+Fixed grate texture missing inputs.

+Fixed stuck openable doors.

+Fixed some paintings not displaying properly. The material seems to had changed from the original mesh or model UVs. Possibly just naming conflict.

Notes: A few meshes and materials changed from when we originally made the mod back in 2017. So, some stuff is currently slightly different. In order to not compromise the essence of the mod… which is important to us, I left things similar as they were but adapting to what there is available. -JFG.

Unfortunately, though, you will not get the exact same version experience as the one we made back in 2017. Some things had to be changed in order for the mod to not break, example new doors, different materials, slight changes in mesh placement, etc. The goal with this version was to get things to a workable version for those that still want to play the mod today in 2023. Hopefully it will remain playable for the foreseeable future :].

Report any bugs if you want in my webs JFG/JamyzGenius but no promises more work may be done to the mod sorry or the bugs may be fixed unless I have the time and willpower to do it. Thanks for your understanding! If it is something game-breaking and quick-to-fix then if I have the time, I may give it a look. Please remember that the current release is made for the Epic Games Hello Neighbor Modkit.

Level 1 Mansion

Re-ordered things in the world outliner.

Fixed general game start crash. Fixed crashes on level 1 mansion.

Fixed stuck doors

Re-inputted invisible meshes [may had missed some .o.]

Fixed position and rotation on several meshes

Re-introduced a variant gold material to fix gold looking stuff

Revised lightning in some areas

Fixed some meshes not displaying custom story pictures properly.

Revised several key areas to fix issues like invisible meshes, different materials, broken blueprints, etc. This was in order to make everything compatible with 4.20.3. Back when we made this mod, we did not have these issues. With this said, this version has been slightly modified and may not be the same

Many Levels

Replaced doors with new blue print doors. Stuck doors should not be a problem anymore.

ENDING 1

Fixed missing grate textures

Fixed emissive texture missing at the end. Made a basic material instance.

Fixed blueprints at ending that trigger ending 1.

ENDING 2

Fixed broken triggers and blueprints that prevented to show the ending on the latest modkit update.

ENDING 3

Fixed missing broken materials

Revised broken rifle blueprint and replaced with a new one to fix rotation

Revised and replaced stuck doors

Replaced broken meshes [UVs, material replacement, etc.] crucial to the story.

Tutorial

Fixed blueprint doors with outdated -Set Start Map- node.

Known bugs and potential issues:

+Some doors may still get somewhat stuck if they have something colliding with them. If for example you open a door and there is a lock in the floor. Please pick-up the lock or any mesh colliding with the door and throw it away. If the door closes when you press E, just try again. The door should open properly.

+I could be wrong but I feel like the weight/mass of some objects is different, especially cardboard boxes. They seem to make the experience slightly different. But probably it was something else. Either way I did not found a clear way to modify this so I left it as it is, but some stuff may be a little bit harder to take out of the way, etc.

+If you experience any error messages while playing, please open the console with the ` key and type DisableAllScreenMessages in order to get rid of the red text messages.

+If having any issues with texture streaming pool please enter this command. Depending of your graphics card but 3000 should fix any issues. 2000 may be ok. Level 1 may go over 1000 possibly.

To enter this command, open the console with the ` key [the one before number 1 and above Tab] and copy and paste the command below.

r.Streaming.PoolSize 3000

or if having 2GB or less video card.

r.Streaming.PoolSize 2000

+Originally and my fault -JFG, back in 2017 I did not take proper care of naming conventions and such. Some file names are way too long so due to this the mod is not able to package in its current state. I am not 100% sure what the package option is for but just a note in-case one needed to package its contents. For best compatibility please use the ModKit from the Epic Games Launcher. I am unable to test in other platforms so I have no idea if the mod works in Steam for example, sorry. Thanks for your understanding.

Final Notes with general development points:

• Removed the old default mansion map, it was beyond broken. New one is in a new folder called “2023_Nov_Fix_JFG_AMFG”.
• The mansion map is the one that probably had the most work and changes. Fixed crucial issues while doing my best to not remove or modify its essence and playthrough to match our original design from 2017. Please note that the way it was meant to be played and how it was meant to be was the way we designed the mod back in 2017 with the contents that were available during that period of time. • Most doors were removed and replaced with new ones.
• If you get an issue regarding the plugin that was made with 16.0 while starting the ModKit press yes. The mod will load fine.
• There is a chance I may had missed something else, but from all the testing I did -JFG I did not saw gamebreaking bugs so far.
• The mansion map performance is still very heavy, same as the original version. I decided to not re-work it due that it may change the vision of how it is meant to be experienced. But I did some tweaks here and there hoping to increase a few FPS. The mod we built really quick back then so when I was building the map, I did not take care of optimization, sorry. -JFG.

Our purpose sharing this mod is for people to have fun.
