Dark Skies is a total conversion mod that aims to recreate the original story of Half-Life 2 while keeping a fresh feel from the other mods doing the same thing. Almost every thing will be redesigned to have our own touches but still resemble Valve's old concepts. Dark Skies will contain many new enemies, new gameplay and dark and desolate levels.

Report RSS Combine shipyard and scavengers

i wanted to see how you guys felt about these two topics

First of all I would like to thank you guys for all the support and feedback you've given us,we really appreciate it.

The first subject id like to discuss is a new location we are considering implementing. it would be a factory in City 17 were the Combine Manufacture and store their dropships until they need them. we haven't decided what role this location would play in the story and we wanted to ask you guys about it first to see what you thought about it and if you had any suggestions for it.

The second subject is about a group of combine we plan on implementing that would go around the wastelands and collect scrap metal to be used in manufacturing weapons and vehicles,we wanted you guys opinion on what kind of combine would be apart of the group and how they would collect the metal.

please leave any suggestions or questions concerning these topics below

I think the idea of scavengers would be more suitable for humans, with some of them being hostile (possibly seeing value in Gordon's HEV suit) and others being friendly, maybe there could be a few groups at war with each other in the Wasteland. It would be a good way of showing the player that not all of humanity is good-natured even with the Combine having control over Earth.

That's a pretty good idea. We'll keep that in mind. Though scavenging still fits the Combine perfectly. Look at the old citadel maps. They're covered in manmade tiles. They're going around and picking off of all the wreckage in and around the cities. Plus the Combine don't strike me as the kind to let things go to waste.

If you're gonna have some scavengers be combine personnel, Metrocops and Conscripts (improvised armor and Merkavas "repaired" with random scrap metal would be pretty badass) might be a good option since most, if not all of the guys who outrank them have their memories wiped so they might not have any free will.

That's also a good idea. And all the guys who outrank them (other than Metrocops) are aliens. We're not including the overwatch soldiers.

Both these locations sound great. The Combine factory could come in near the end when Gordon and the rebels are trying to get to the citadel but it is too heavily guarded and so they need to destroy the factory and the weapons and drop ships that are inside it. in order to make a move to the citadel.
