There Goes the Neighborhood! Ghetto Blaster is a multiplayer mod for Half-Life 2 that is half first-person shooter and half racing. Team one scores by racing their cars as many laps around the city blocks as possible. Team two must shoot the cars (which have hit points) to pieces. After all cars are wrecked, the teams switch. The levels, characters, weapons, and soundtrack all have an inner-city theme (hence the title). For the first Beta release, GB will be strictly drivers versus shooters. Later releases will include very clever takes on Capture the Flag, Attack / Defend, VIP, and so on. Look for Bots (i.e. police and ghetto zombies) to play an interesting role in the future, too. Think Carmageddon meets Smash TV. Driving, drifting, and shooting-- together at last. A promotional mp3 is available for download here: Remember: No one is elite in the Ghetto.

Team GB is a long way from Beta Testing.
However, there are two things that will
help us reach that goal much faster:

1. Additional Staff - we need Coders, Modelers,
and Mappers so very badly. If you'd like
to Beta Test for Ghetto Blaster,
then the best thing you can do is to please
swarm the modding forums and send some
more talent our way. Our door is wide
effin' open. Just email examples of your
work and we'll boogie from there.

2. Publicity - for whatever reason, our
news releases are not getting posted on
popular HL² sites. Therefore,
we need to spread the word about our efforts
and drum up more support from the online
community. This (in turn) will help us
release GB 1.0 a lot sooner.

One last note that I'd like to add:

Even though we don't receive major news
coverage, GB has consistently stayed
within the top 100 at the Mod
DB
. So, whether we're newsworthy or
not, the public is interested. We'll do
everything we can to keep it that way ;)
