In the world of Fallout, North America is a howling radiated desert known as the Wastelands. The Great Atomic War of 2077 between USA and China left human civilisation on the brink of being extinguished. The people that survived the initial nuclear exchange were then hit by radiation and engineered super-plagues. Very few survived. Yet some did. The world they inherited was a living nightmare. Slowly, as the generations passed, people adapted to the post apocalyptic world and thrived. It is now the year 2245 AD and there are many groups across the Wastelands who are becoming nation states and restoring human civilisation again. Which one will rise to rule supreme in the world of Fallout?

Post news Report RSS Update on 2.0.9 progress

The next release is being worked on. Despite my belief that I would have it ready earlier this year, it will be ready by about mid year.

Quick update. I'm still alive. Like Harold, old ghouls are hard to kill. I am waaaaay behind on reading forum posts. Sorry to those who have posted, but I will get to your posts and reply.

Maybe I'm more like 'Woody' from Fallout 2? No life visible but look out - he's waking up! Hmmm....

I'm doing good work on the province reunification events by adding some fun ideas in there. Many former US states are fairly straight forward, though the rewards have been updated and should be more unique and useful (e.g. technology blueprints based on the speciality of that state). Some states have some interesting outcomes with further events.

It's worth pursuing unification of a pre-War state, though be warned that some smaller states are amalgamated into one event. I will document it in the mod manual when I get time.

I just uncovered another crash bug in the damned mercenary hiring events. *groan* I'm going to rewrite the faulty lines and copy-paste-edit those events for all seven Slavers' Guild nations. I hate doing that but anyway, it has to be done.

I try to be careful when I code yet there are always bugs. I have a lot more respect for Paradox developers after this hobby project.

I'm working on Redding. I played a test game as this tiny minor nation. And guess what? I'm having a lot of fun. Every battalion counts when you're a minnow surrounded by sharks! LOL

I've made some play balance changes to the nation and plan some more. I haven't done the Wanamingo event chain yet but will do it. Thanks to those people who posted some feedback on that idea. I also will be reducing metal and rare production for nearby majors and reviewing Redding's output to ensure Redding is key for full IC production. I will also implement some events about Redding providing supply. I'll also implement AI settings and/or events that will likely create an instant war should anyone try to take Redding for themselves.

The amount I get into this next version of the mod depends on time as always. A lot going in my personal life.

I need change some colours on the map around. You must understand though that the game only seems to support a small number of colours so avoiding nearby nations with similar or the same colours is challenging.

I hope to squeeze in something about the Anti Mutant Crusade and will be making the Supermutant Army more deadly in the mid game with some events for nearby nations to unite and stop them. I might do something with East BoS and West BoS reuniting. We'll see.

There will definitely be a release 2.0.10 or even a 2.1.0. I have decided to be more organised with the next release and treat it like a work project with some defined deliverables and try to manage my time in an organised fashion.

The new DH patch is being spoken of so I will have to make the mod compliant. That could be well be the 2.0.10 and then I'll implement Hawaii and a naval game into the mod for 2.1.

Oh, I almost forgot: I desperately want to move Caesar's Legion to the correct location. Most players are aware of Fallout world only from the Fallout 3 series now, and I can't resist this tide any more. Seeing a recent AAR by FearCro has made that obvious for me.

So, the plan is that Junkers move to CL current location, Caesar's Legion moves to Hoover Dam plus one other province, and I create a precursor version of the Pitt.

Hmmm... I also need to add some Reaver events, damn it. I won't spend much time on that. Just some quick events from the ideas in the nation thread will have to do.

You can see that I have many hours of modding work to complete 2.0.9 ahead of me. I am aiming to spend time some week nights and every weekend till it's done.

I have completely lost track of several people who were working on some content for the mod, though I added in some text work done by Elitech (thanks mate). Sorry about that; like I said, I will catch up on forum threads in the coming weeks.

I'm proud of the mod as it is right now, even with bugs and long delays to the next version. I still have fun playing it with nations I haven't tried before. I think the next release will again be a small step up. The AI nations right now have wars that play differently and form their own alliances. There are hundreds of events and techs, the mod does have a lot to offer even though it is not a WW2 game.

Cheers,
Sword of Justice
