Fallout 3 Total Conversion mod project to the Original Fallout game! This is an extremely ambitious project but one that we believe truly needs to be done. From what we have briefly seen out in the community there is a desire to redo the original Fallout and Fallout 2 with the new Fallout 3 Engine. We think it is important for new fans to see where it all began and see more of what really makes the Fallout genre great. We know a great deal of people do not have the interest to go back and play the game with outdated graphics and game play mechanics which is why we are going to bring a more updated version to the community.
New Staff, New Name. State of the mod address for updates on the status.
Posted by Dakcenturi on Aug 23rd, 2010
So as you've noticed we've gone without a news update for some time. Well we're here today to rectify that with our State of the Mod address.
Currently the project has an *On Hold* status. What does that mean? Well we are not actively building the game. The reason for this is the upcoming release of Fallout: New Vegas. We will be moving the mod to work with Fallout: New Vegas as there are new systems and content being implemented that we plan to utilize. Now even though the project is *On Hold* doesn't mean we aren't still hard at work.
We've gone through some staff changes as old members have departed and we've brought on board some new members. First off, please welcome Kieran88 our Lead 2D Artist. He's already done some great work with our new logo amongst other things. Look forward to some awesome concept art and previews of in-game assets in the future. Also, please welcome Ralok who is assisting with design and other aspects of the project. Hopefully with the next news post we'll have a new Lead 3D artist as we're in the process of bringing on board a new volunteer.
Also, as you've most likely noticed we've renamed the project to Fallout 2161. The reasons for this are two-fold. First we wanted something to better describe the project. The original Fallout took place in the year 2161 so we decided to change our name. Also, Fallout 3 mod was very generic and as this is a total conversion we wanted to clarify our name a little better. Right now our main site is still up at Fallout3Mod.com, however it can also be accessed at Fallout2161.com. We'll be updating our site in the near future to represent these changes.
We look forward to the release of Fallout: New Vegas and hope to have some more updates for you all in the future.
cool... was wanting to see if you guys were gonna move it over, and with the extra stuff in New Vegas this mod is hopefully gonna be even better
cant wait to see this when its done... keep up the good work :]
Sounds sound to move on to the Vegas engine with all it's improved features.
Probably a smart move. The possibilities are exciting.
I am so sick of people telling me this mod is a lost cause
here is a link to a similiar mod
Moddb.com
Why do i link this mod?
Because like them we dont have to create very many assets ourselves
and they actually managed to complete it
Not only that but itsthe second total conversion mod that they made
By having most of theassets made foryou at the start oftheconversionit oes a long way to helping the game
not only that but if we do continue into making fallout 2 then we have yet again teh advantage that assets are mostly reused from fallout 1
so alot that would have to be made would be already made
blah
