What is Elite: Final Frontier?
Elite: Final Frontier is a fan-made, non-canon prequel conversion for Stellaris set in the Elite: Dangerous universe. Set in the year 2136, players may play as the Federation in their perilous expansion across the stars, or as the Empire of Achenar, after the death of Marlin Duval. This mod is intended to be a flexible, lightweight and lore-friendly roleplay package. Elite has always been a sandbox, and that's been a central focus for this project.
Features:
- 2 custom factions: Federation and Empire
- One tiny galaxy, "The Human Bubble" which represents a 200Ly radius around Earth
- An overhaul of ositodefelpa's Milky Way Unleashed titled, "The Final Frontier"
- 2 Custom origins
- Federal Ascension
- Imperial Pride
- 1 Custom event
- and 2+ hours of an original soundtrack (produced by yours truly)
- Snazzy new main menu
- 20 new loading screens
It will also have:
- A compatible mod collection on Steam Workshop
- An alternate, romantic-era classical music pack
- This is a separate mod that disables the Stellaris default music as well as this mod's soundtrack.
Status Update
It's been a fair bit since my last communication but I've made a hefty amount of progress.
- "The Human Bubble" is complete and the star systems within have been finalized.
- The large galaxy map, "The Final Frontier" which shares some star systems with the tiny galaxy map, still needs repositioning work.
- The custom event that is foundational for future updates to the mod has been limited at this time. It has caused errors in past tests however, I believe these are mostly fixed as of this week.
- Lastly, half of the mod's original soundtrack has been finalized and mixed down prepared for a full master.
Testing
February was a massive month of testing and tweaking. A lot of observer mode tests were done to see how viable these factions are as opponents. Now that they're both relatively stable, focused hands-on play tests will occur both, with the mod alone and with the compatibile Steam Workshop collection. Faction balance, testing and completing the soundtrack are the main focuses at the moment.
