Set parallel to the events of Half-Life 2, Earth Confederate places you and a friend as marines in the freelance military organisation of the same name. It's mission: to protect earth from any alien threat. Story: Funded by an unknown contributor, E.C. has high-grade military hardware at it's disposal and operates in small teams who travel the globe eliminating the alien menace. You are members of Beta Team, a small squad and underdogs to the more experienced Alpha Team. Early events during the invasion leads your team alone to the alien's main outpost in the arctic. Your assault helicopter crashes in a vicous snowstorm before you reach your objective leaving you without a commander or orders. It is upto you to take control. A mysterious toxin with the power to alter human genetic structure is your main enemy, as it's main side-effect is paranoia and megalomania. You must fight the aliens and the enemy within as you progress though the once active underwater research...

After weeks of rewriting and feedback a complete first draft of the script is completed. Since the mod is story driven the plot rivals that of a classic scifi movie. After weeks of rewriting and feedback a complete first draft of the script is completed. Since the mod is story driven the plot rivals that of a classic scifi movie.

The research phase is next, with most mod members improving their skills in their particular area. I myself have been toying with the HL1 sdk, learning the important aspects like GUIs and AIs that will be cruicial to making the mod a success.

We're leaning towards an episodic roleout, the 4 chapters being released a few months after one another. The first chapter would take longer than the others because we'd have to work out a save system and do most of the modelling. The other chapters would only need mapping and voice acting.

With any luck the rumours of the HL2 SDK release at ECTS are true and we'll be able to being tinkering with code pretty soon.

Sounds great. I'm not a fan of the episodic structure, but then again, works differently for different mods. Hopefully it will do well for yours.

We just want to get something out as soon as possible you know? We could do the entire thing in one go (in fact once it's completed it would be released both as episodes and one large download) but each chapter is so different. To be honest we're not sure what we're gonna do, having episodes could complicate carrying on a game.
We'd have to wait and see how things progress.
