We have a bit of new news... First off, the mod teams name has been changed to ICMafia Studios, but the mod will still be called DrugWars. This doesn't really affect anyone, so lets move on to the more interesting stuff:
Our modelers have been at work again, and here are the pictures of every model render released, including some never before seen renders:

N.B. There are no skins on these model renders. In future renders, expect some!
thats it for now... the mod should be released in early to mid 2005, but expect several public betas before then, and a wealth of screenshots.

The guns are not very acurate and also they are loads of wasted polgons. The m4a1 render looks alright though. They all need some work though.

When you import models of any sort (i.e. Player models, weapon models, etc.) into FarCry, it will automatically bumpmap them, and reduce the polygon count by A LOT.
Yes, that is a temporary skin.

lmfao, automatically bump map it? and reduce the polgon count? I think u got some of your sources mixed up. It will have to be converted to triangles before it goes into the farcry engine so this means the polgon count will double, also I find it very unlickly it will automatically bump map the weapon. Do you even know what bump maps are? lol.
Ichi he's talking about the polybum tech. Crytek (far cry engine) uses algorithms that translate the higher poly bump mapped skin onto a low poly model, though as far as i understand it, you still need a low poly model.
And yeah, guys how about being a bit more supportive of your fellow modder ey? is that the treatment you want when somebody looks at your mod !?!

I know how to make bump maps and I know what they are. I am currently learning zbrush. But he is making it out like the farcry engine automatically reduces the amount of polgons on your weapon models.... which is like... no it doesn't, whatever u import is what u get. Also he said it automatically makes bump maps for u. The only way it could do this is by taking the colour values and adding them to a lighting high. But that would just look ****. Because it would not make sense negative and posative values would be wrong.

Simply put, you are wrong. The FarCry SDK will include a program that imports weapon models into the game, and because of the amazing Polybump feature, will convert extraneous polygons into single, bumpmapped polygons.
I will pretend that you did not insult my knowledge about making mods and about bumpmapping, because you obviously have no idea what you are talking about.
Just wait until the SDK comes out, and if I am wrong, I swear I will eat my hat.
Bah, I just had to get the source that states clearly what the polybump feature can do:
"It allows users to create and render an extremely low-poly model using an ultra high-poly model while displaying virtually no visible difference between the two. Rendering time is greatly decreased. Polybump is the first commercial package, that allows users to do all this with just a few clicks."
Also, read these (which are referring to polybump):

Okay, now that we have removed the confusion surrounding polybump, I just wanted to mention that all of those skins are, indeed, temporary. In fact, the only render there that has a real skin is the AK-47, which is also just temporary. The M4 and the M82 both are just translucent and partially reflective, which, when combined, give it a nice flashy look. We are working on skins for all the models, and these are just "showcase" renders. None of those weapons are complete anyway (except for AK-47) so worry not: The final models will be ten times more spiffier than these!

And yes, those skins are all temporary. In fact, all save the ak47 are not even skins. The m4 and the m82 are just translucent and partially reflective... All this will change in good time...

i can understand if it takes a high poly model, calculates the lightning data and then puts that data ontop of a lower poly one.. then the low poly will reflect light just as a high poly one did.

bah polybump.... many games already use it, anyway...those pics you say that were never seen before... we still cannot see them due to an error page, other then that the models are ok
hmmm... when I click it, I can see it...
try right clicking it, going to properties, and copying and pasting the target URL into the address bar of your browser... otherwise, i have NO idea... sorry!
