can anyone tell me how to install mods for doom 2 in steam?
Well, firstly you'll want to get a sourceport of Doom, since Doom and Doom 2 both use iD tech 1.
I'd recommend zandronum as it's still in development and people use it online. If you have doom installed through steam it will auto detect it and there you go.
To play a mod you'll want to launch the mod file through zandronum and then choose to launch through doom 2 (it will just load doom2.wad if that's your only doom game.
though I think this mod might require skulltag, which works exactly the same as zandronum is the updated skulltag.
