Doom Chronicles is a squad based, action packed extension of the Doom 3 storyline. It continues the story of the "lone Marine", and takes place immediately after he is rescued from the UAC facility. The mod is broken up into 4 chapters that will be released one at a time. The first chapter of the mod is titled: No Escape, and we have already released early "beta demos" that showcase the mod's game play. The main focus of this mod is to introduce fast paced, intense squad combat to the Doom 3 universe. We have added several new features that add to the intensity of the game play. Here is a list of some of our features: -An all new storyline taking place instantly after the events of D3. -Fight along side a squad, and issue them commands. -Alternate Fire capability for weapons, as well as multiple Fire Modes -Enhanced Physics and Special Effects. -Improved, faster paced Game play due to completely reworked damage system for you and your enemies. -Optimized to support...

Just checking in to let everyone know that we're still live and kicking, and to update you all on some of our latest progress. We have a new template for our main site, that we hope to get up ASAP (we still need a new web designer to run the site). Hopefully we can get this up soon, which would provide our site with a much needed update.

As for Doom Chronicles itself, we've finally started to progress on the modeling side of things. We have added our first fully modeled, animated, and coded monster into the game. That said, we are in need of good, dedicated texture artists that can create skins for our new monsters.

We have also done a lot of work our mod's physics, and I think that they are finally at the level I originally wanted. Objects no longer bounce around the room like insane ping pong balls, and objects feel as if they have weight to them now. I am currently working on giving the physical objects more realistic scraping effects when they collide with other objects and surfaces. If you all remember, in our beta demo, every object would spark as if it were made of metal, and would leave the same scratch decal. I'm hoping to improve this to something much more realistic, as well as something that has not really been done yet in D3.

I have also continued work on my beloved impact particle system, and have had several breakthroughs with it. Honestly, the current level is far from "realistic", but it really adds an incredibly cinimatic level to the gun fights, and I must admit that I love it. However, being that I think this might be sort of a "love/hate" sort of deal, I may release two versions of my particles.... A "Realistic" set, and my normal kickass "Cinimatic" set. We'll just have to see what the public response is ;).

On the Squad side of things, Nivelxe has really been adding some major improvements to their overall behavior. He's been trying to make their behavior as realistic as possible. They'll do things like retreat when getting pounded on, throw grenades when needed, melee enemies that corner them, and much more. We have also been working on a dynamic chatter system that, though is still in very early stages, is starting to sound great. It really adds to the overall intensity of combat to hear your squad yelling to each other, and to you, as things get rough. I've been very happy with early tests of this new system, and have no doubt that it will totally kick ass when its complete.

On a side note, I have to add that we have a very special surprise for our fans, that we should have completed very shortly. I don't want to give away any surprises, but I think you will all enjoy it, as its something that many of you have been wanting us to do for a very long time.

Finally, I'd like to add that we are still in need of help in a few key areas. Like I mentioned above, we are in great need of a new web admin, and some skinners (you'll need to be able to skin a new model from scratch, we'll provide you with the UV's). We also could use a couple new, DEDICATED level designers. You'll have to be very familiar with the Doom 3 editor, and have the free time to work on an ambitious mod team. In addition, we are in need of a talented GUI scripter/designer. You'll have to be able to design new GUI's, as well as script them.

As always, please send your applications to Cody_b64@hotmail.com.
