- Drastic CAI tweaks for a better diplomacy, challenge and effective Britain. AI ships should be repaired too.

many requests, the Launcher offers now the option of "Auto-Start" or
"Manual-Start". In "Manual-Start" you can set the Launcher options and
then use the official game shortcut to play the game. Use this method to

- BAI and melee mechanics fine tune. Now you should enjoy the game to the maximum. Prepare for powerful AI musket Lines.
Version 2.6++ "Epic Edition"
- Better Musket Accuracy Balance ideal for situations like "Ready... Aim... Fire!!!" ! Meaning that muskets are now better at close range fire due to more effective targeting calibration and you can rout units more easily with correctly timed volleys (as the AI).
- Formation improvements that make ΒΑΙ not to prefer so much the angled/flank attacks that could make it not use its artillery always properly.
- AI Diplomacy stances less strict so to give more breathing space to minor nations against the big nations.
- The AI should now attack/defend/make musket lines even more effectively. It should also use its reserves more efficiently.
- Tweaks in morale. Morale much more dynamic.
- Tweaks in combat animation mechanics.
- Rank fire available from the start of any campaign without the need of research.
- Garrison units have now special stats (Much better in defense, much worse in attack than their normal counterparts).
- Balanced better the naval battles damage & accuracy system.
- Balanced slightly better the Land battles projectile damage system.
- All buildings are 10 times more resilient against artillery so as not to be deathtraps for garrison as before.
- Mass changes for excellent battle realism, even greater than before!
- Annoying incidents in which there was zero lethality after musket, land or naval cannon fire are now fixed/balanced much better.
- Canister should have now straighter trajectories and generally will be more effective.
- AI should now flank with cavalry much more often.
- Greeks and Greek Rebels no longer speak Turkish as in Vanilla (English is now their voice, cannot be changed to something else better).
Version 2.6+ "Epic Edition"
- Several new improvements that affect Battle AI positively for even greater and more challenging battles. DarthMod Napoleon has now 300% better Battle AI from vanilla = guaranteed. Those who still do not believe just try and see (especially in campaign battles).
- Melee mechanics improvements (better reactions, more lively engagements).
- Better animation mechanics, more realistic. (Less synchronised volleys, better sounds, less lag).
- 43 new Garrison units that make sieges far more interesting. No longer you will face only weak armed citizenry but instead you will have to battle against experienced Line infantry and trained Militia, according to town income. These troops are available for the human player too when he defends. (In previous version this was not implemented fully and caused bugs = you could not disband some units or after the battle they dissapeared. Now this very irritating bug is fixed).
- Howitzers more accurate and effective.
- Quicklime and Carcass more effective.
- Many more projectile improvements. For example muskets are having even more realistic firing trajectories. You can feel how the musket is better at the hands of a trained soldier than an inexperienced militia. Enable the improved projectile trails to watch how deadly or unstable at the same time can be a musket barrage.
- Squares more effective against cavalry.
- Fortifications slightly less expensive as requested.
- Musket sounds enriched with the magnificently recorded sounds of General Andy. You can find his standalone mod here: Twcenter.net (General Andy's Musket Sounds). DarthMod now uses possibly the best musket sound mix of the community. Read the credits for more info.
- The 1X MP setting is now enabling normal vanilla unit size so you can freely change unit size or play DarthMod multiplayer without any issues.
Version 2.6 "Epic Edition"
- Battle AI is greater than ever due to formations and other parameters adjustments. It will really give you a hard time winning it, especially when it has artillery and a good general.
- Multiplayer with DarthMod enabled should now be fixed.
- Now there is richer garrison (Militia and many types of Line infantry) and also it costs when in siege (so Human campers will not wait for the AI to attack all the time because they may risk bankruptcy). This simulates the cost of a siege for the defender.
- Battle autocalc improved as requested.
- Gun reload rates extreme re-balance for better battle realism and challenge.
- Musketing morale impact is greater so that only the elite troops can stand under heavy fire long enough (or when they have a good officer around).
- General projectile lethality enhanced.
- Melee mechanics tweaked even better for more cinematic feel.
- Artillery more devastating.
- CAI better re-balance especially for France and Britain which should be more effective in the campaign map.
- CAI recruitment better with more special and elite troops.
- Fortifications have much more cost so that they are rare in the map.
- CAI should be not so aggressive to minor nations and must be slightly more reasonable.
- Diplomacy gift impact reduced (was requested).
- Howitzer impact slightly more powerful.
- Unit population cost nullified because in some campaigns caused problems (For example in Penninsula Campaign it made Towns too small and no more units could be built).
- Trade ports can now build warships so that the CAI can build powerful navies. As a tradeport becomes upgraded it can build bigger ships and smaller ships become obsolete.
- Improvements in effects (Musket muzzle flash much more realistic, Quicklime smoke effect more realistic, Water impact effects are now realistic and not tiny and gamey as in vanilla).
- New Musket sounds much more realistic using sounds kindly offered by Shokh, the creator of ACW mod (American Civil War - The Blue and the Grey).
- Extreme Naval Battle rebalance. Many changes to make the naval battles as realistic, challenging and beautiful as possible. For example you can now feel the mass and slow reaction time of a ship type and also there is simulation of how tides affect a ship's firing trajectory. The smaller ships shake a lot so they are not as effective in long range targeting as the bigger warships which remain more stationary in the water. But even for the bigger ships you notice this very realistic effect, as they shake after they take hits or they fire etc. so that you think you play a real naval battle.
- Some minor Launcher fixes to provide more accurate log reports.
- Projectile trails improved (Those you enable from the launcher).

I am new to this kinda stuff. Is Napolean and its mods easy to play and micro manage those large armies? I am accustomed to C&C Generals, Total Annihilation, Warhammer 40k ect. Help me understand better & make up my mind weather to buy Shogun 2 and Napolean games from the store.
Deuce, no offense, but you look about my age, 40's. If you loved playing with the 1:32 plastic army figures, as I did, when we were kids, you will love Total War. It is the ultimate in strategy gaming with real time battles. No one mods TW better than Darth. It is he and modders like him that make the Total War series live on. Otherwise, the original game would get boring real fast. You will not go wrong buying any Total War game, from Rome Total War through Shogun 2. If you do, you must download Darthmod for all games you purchase. I have actually had to take days off of work to play these games with them modded, because Darth and other modders put so much effort into maximizing Total War's full potential. You will not be dissatisfied.

If you are accustomed to playing standard RTS games the micro for any Total War game should be a piece of cake IMO, no offense to the Total War community. The battles in TW are slower-paced (due to the emphasis on realism) compared to something like Starcraft, and thus more forgiving; rarely will mere seconds of inattention turn an even battle into a crushing defeat, as is so often the case with a game like Starcraft.
Whether or not to buy Shogun 2 and NTW?
Well, you can wait for them to inevitably go on a weekend blow-out special on Steam and get them for dirt cheap (as I did =P), not to say they aren't worth paying full price for. But if you get any game from the Total War series you will indeed find that often times DarthMod is what takes the cake. This is particularly the case with Napoleon and Empire, IMO.
Deuce, darthmod for total war games is mainly set up as "advanced ai" your best choice would be shogun 2. as the starting faction or "clans" are very easy to play as. napoleon is average. if u have experience in total war games napoleon is probably a game u should get.
they require a bit of practice (usually just by playing the campaign on easy), right of the bat u will suck as everyone new does have a rough time micro managing but after a couple hours and a couple battles in campaign ull be off weell.. PTS, I HIGHLY RECCOMEND NAPOLEON WITH THIS MOD :)

Don't get Shogun 2 it's crap.
If you are gonna start playing total war ... start with Empire total war
Why? It can give wrong feeling about total war series because its buggy, ETW is great and awesome game but not maybe first total war you should play.
Playing Empire got me into PC gaming and Total War as a whole, i highly recommend playing it, i recommend it even more with Darthmod.
Of course its really great game but is it really FIRST total war game you should play?
Well if you start with the 'worst' (opinion) then it can only get better from there!
i started with Medieval 2 as a Demo.. so i think the best way to get in is to start with the older ones and then step further to the next ones. But its altough a question what Era you prevere.

I watched your Let's play movies and I like your mod (I think it is the best mod for NTW!)and the way you comment on what's happening during a battle ;).
Just a few questions: I like to play the single player (custom) battles (instead of the campaigns) and I assume your mod works for that just as well. Still, on the window of Darthmod Napoleon it says 'Campaigns, Options, Play' only?
Also, as I like to re-view my battles, does one keep the possibilty to save the battle (with the camera icon) like in the vanilla version?
Last but not least: I am very new in the mod community (though playing NTW for quite a while now) and I would appreciate it very much if you could tell me where I can find how to install Darthmod Napoleon, and how to operate it...

Hi friend. You cannot understand how to download? Hmmm press the Download button and save the file somewhere you remember, for example "My Documents/downloads". Run the EXE, follow the installation instructions. You are set.

Thanks for the reply! I was confused when I saw the three seperate downloads on TWCenter. So I'll just download the mod here on moddb, where it is just one file :). Just to be sure: should I launch Steam before I run the EXE file from Darthmod? Or only before I actually push the 'play' button? Newbie questions...
O yes, I'm very curiuous if I can record my battles (with the camera icon) like in the vanilla version...?
Also, are there additional maps for custom battles available in the Darthmod as is, or do you plan these in future additions?

Hi Vader, I have been having problems with the mod and i was wondering if this would help. I have been playing as France with the 40 unit armies and when ever i get attack and have to fight out the battle, i click the button to fight and it goes into the loading screen and crashes. I'm kind of new to downloading mods for total war games. If you know whats going on please help!

Hello i have a question. After I activated my "elite regiments" unit pack every time i start darthmod it crashes on start up. i have re-installed both game and mod but it doesn't help. i have the latest version of the game and darthmod. Any help is appreciated.

Yes for this summer. I may provide a small hotfix patch that will address possible multiplayer issues. Not sure if it is needed yet.
Unfortunately Vader, it appears it is needed. :( I keep getting dropped from my own games, can't do any MP land or siege battles, scenario seems to work fine, along with Naval, but land is just impossible.

Dear Vader, If you could possibly patch the multiplayer that would be fantastic. I really enjoy your mod for sp it is amazing but for multiplayer lan the land and siege battles drop me from the game when I am trying to set up as host. The other little things that I have noticed in lan mp are that you cannot vary the weather in the naval battles (but you can in sp) and also the Waterloo scenario 1v2 mp doesn't add an ai player when you click on the add ai player (unlike all the other scenarios). If you could please patch these things it would be amazing. As a final question when I select your new ultra sized units should the mp scenarios be affected by this because at the moment there are still only small numbers of troops in each unit actually on the battle field? Anyway thank you again for all your incredible work to date.
The Epic edition has fixed the multiplayer problem. Unfortunately you can play MP only with standard unit sizes.
