Put simply, CFCS is a total rework of Blitzkrieg. It is at it's heart a realism mod, but there are of course some compromises for gameplay reasons. It covers the traditional Second World War period, that is 1939 to 1945, the same as the original game. It does expand this to cover the Pacific, China-India-Burma and Far Eastern theatres, as well as looking at all theatres and campaigns in more detail. There are also addons that cover the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and Korean War (1950-1953), as well as "What-if" 1945 chapters covering a continued war between the Allies, Germany and the USSR with interest new weapons and equipment, as well as a theoretical conflict between the West and the USSR. For map makers, it also includes a substantial toolkit of new units, objects, buildings, and so forth to create almost any conceivable scenario from the 2nd World War.

Hello everyone,

Just a quick update to keep everyone informed of progress. With the Release of Patch 9 for Release 7, I decided to focus on the next full release of CFCS; Release 8 (Heinrich).

Now, what separates this from previous releases? Well the inevitable bug fixes, tweaks here and there. Nothing much worth mentioning there (although I have finally solved the Main Menu issues, so all buttons now work as they should). However, there is more;

  • New Random Maps for Jungle Chapters (Singapore, Burma, New Guinea in the Commonwealth Campaign. The Philippines, Guadalcanal, Tarawa and Okinawa for the US Campaign. Okinawa is now a separate chapter to Iwo Jima.)
  • New "prologue" chapter for the Commonwealth Campaign. "Poland 1939: First to Fight". This means the player can experience the invasion of Poland from all three perspectives (Polish, German and Soviet)
  • Additional units for above chapters (mostly aircraft)
  • Completely reworked campaign scripts (which units you get, when) for the Commonwealth and US Campaigns. Better represents historical progression and more evenly spread in terms of new units being introduced.

I cannot give a timescale at this point for R8 being completed and released. I am in final bug testing for the US Campaign so, it hopefully will be some time in the next few weeks.
