On the download page you will find general instructions. See the readme file to add a nifty icon to your Steam grid view or big picture mode.
If you're a lucky Mac or Linux user in theory all of this should work for you too. I'm not sure exactly where you'd extract the mod files, but I imagine you have a sourcemods folder tucked away somewhere too.
