Counter-Strike is a modification (MOD) to the excellent game, Half-Life. It modifies the multiplayer aspects of Half-Life to bring to it a more team-oriented gameplay. Counter-Strike provides the player with an experience that a trained counter-terrorist unit or terrorist unit experiences. The MOD is team-based featuring one team playing the role of the terrorist and the other team playing the role of the counter-terrorist. Each side has access to different guns and equipment, as well as different abilities. Maps have different goals such as: hostage rescue, assassination, bomb defusion, Terrorist escape, etc. Weapons include the usual assortment of pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, grenades, demolition devices. Each side has access to a different subset of weapons so for example only the counter-terrorist can use the M4A1, and only the terrorists can use the AK-47. We are confident that we've created a MOD quite unlike any other.

By far one of the most popular mods of Half-Life and not without a reason. Takes some of the textures of HL and has its own, as well as models, giving in sum well worked scenarios for a tactical confrontation between terrorists and counter-terrorists. The virtually infinite amount of maps available for playing (and some of them has really nice looking) makes the gameplay impossible to be monotonous.

The bad thing about gameplay though is that, in servers, generally never is any tactic. The mod in multiplayer is pretty much like going on your own and rely totally on your skills to get multiple headshots. In that sense, team depends on key members rather than tactical strategy. Until today, for me that is a very desapointing aspect of Counter-Strike. The graphics in general are good, possibly better than HL. Has plenty of game modes on each map, but in servers I only see Defuse mode matches over and over again. Luckily, is not completely boring play it against bots, but obviously not the same experience when you play with a good team. In general, the mod is not really bad, the problem are the players. The chilean community at least is full of childish stupids talking crap loudly in their mics and cursing all the time, and as for the gameplay they generally don't take it seriously. Also, when the teams begin the match unbalanced remain same until the end of the map.
