Bir Hakeim is a remote oasis in the Lybian desert, and the former site of a Turkish fort. From May 26th to June 11th, 1942, the First Free French Division of General Koenig defended the site against the Italian and German Afrika Korps of General Rommel. Resisting for 16 days, the Freen French gave the retreating British 8th Army enough time to reorganize, allowing them to subsequently defeat the Afrika Korps at the Battle of El-Alamein. Playable on 23 totally new, custom maps, CC5: Bir Hakeim will feature the terrible fights which occurred during this period, and will obviously include all the historical Italian, German and French units, some of them like Foreign Legion or Colonial troops never seen on any other Close Combat mod.

Description

The area of Bir-Hakeim was protected by huge minefields. Entering into the cauldron was only possible using "Portes" (Gates). Here is the Northern one.
