I was looking around for a Delorean seeing if anyone had any for cheap and I found a guy who is selling one for $150. I wanted to buy it right then and there cause I have like $300 on me but I thought "There has to be something really wrong with it..." Right?

I mean, I looked at it, sat in it, checked everything I could check and it looks perfect. Should I steer clear or am I just being paranoid?

Oh and it was my first time in a Delorean. Those things really are totally awesome.

I would say, it's sketchy. No one sells a 30k car for only 150. Heck, i never even heard of ancient cars being sold for that much.

Jul 20 2007 Anchor

Used deloreans usually go around 10-20k. Somewhere around there. 150 seems way too low.

Jul 20 2007 Anchor

Yeah, it's a 1983 DMC-12. Original everything. Been in a garage most of it's life. Never seen snow or rain. And it only has a few thousand miles on it. Either this guy doesn't know what he has, doesn't care, or he's trying to ditch a stolen car.

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

yeah, makes no sense on why he'd sell it for that cheap unless he was filthy rich. Even junk cars don't sell for that low.

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

Dude, DeLoreans are not meant to be Driven every day, they are really rare. buy it man!

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

Where Is The Delorean?

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

delorean's right. no way anyone would sell a delorean for $150 unless something was wrong with it. then again, for $150 id buy it whether something was wrong with it or not.

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

LOL. At 150, you're probably just buying a shell... and you'd be lucky to get just that (assuming it's not completely rusted out)!

But considering the info you gave, I'm calling it complete and utter BS...

First off, the ONLY (and I mean ONLY) chance this could be real is if its some woman who recently got divorced or is soon to be getting a divorce and is selling her husbands car to get back at him. In that rare scenario, then maybe.

That INCREDIBLY rare occasion aside, it doesn't happen. So I don't believe this guys story for a second. The main reason is that no one in their right mind would come on a message board asking for advice on buying a DeLorean at that rock bottom of a price. You don't ask if thats a good deal, you just f**king buy it and see what happens. At worst you're out a couple hundred bucks, but its a easy risk to take considering what you are getting. So no offense dude, but I think your just trying to get some attention.

just get for display! i would get it regardless for that cheap, so what if it doesnt drive? u could do it up and kit it out with the bttf specs if u wanted to as well!

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

Buy the body, install some supercharged engine. Just suggesting.

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

no one supercharges and engine with less than 8 cylinders and you wouldnt fit that in a delorean. turbocharged engine would work though

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

I misspelled, thanks, KiTT.

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

No no no, I'm just paranoid about it. What if it blows up when I start it or the cops come after me thinking I stole it? I just don't feel like dealing with that.

He says no one else he's talked to will buy it from him either. I'm not entirely car savvy so they might see something I don't.

I'm just going to go buy it. Like you guys said, what's the harm?

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

The Harm No Harm, For The love Of God! Its A Delorean I Can only Find one For $13,000 So Buy It Man

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

Holy crap.

You should erase, lock, or do whatever to this topic because I cannot believe what I did.

Okay, full story goes is I'm looking around for a Delorean here in my city. Good news, there's a guy selling one, I hear it's in nice condition too. I go to check him out, we talk, I look at the car and everything and I ask him the price.

He says 150.

My mental jaw drops as I try to contain myself. I ease off with all this excitement/worry thinking it has to be some trick and I come here to ask you guys about it.

I just got back from his place again, to discuss actually buying the car and to my surprise...

Get this.

He means 150 Thousand. Wow. I really should get more detail with this kind of stuff before spouting out about it on the internets.

And isn't that too much even for a Delorean? Well whatever, I got to sit in it. That was cool.

Jul 21 2007 Anchor

yes. thats a lot for a delorean. you could get one refurbished, fully specked out, from DMC texas for about a third of that

Jul 22 2007 Anchor

After you've gotten the correct Delorean, how much approximately is it to "convert it for time travel"?

I've seen some really accurate parts go on ebay for hundreds of dollars. It's gotta be an extra few thousand just to drive around in a time machine...

Jul 22 2007 Anchor

yeah, a few thousand to get a delorean that looks like one. Tens of thousands to get a screen-accurate one.

Jul 22 2007 Anchor

Go to youtube.com and search for the guy bttfparts. He converted a few rides already.

Jul 22 2007 Anchor

umm, he only converted one. He's in the middle of converting 2.

Jul 22 2007 Anchor

Well, his videos could be useful for Kinneticboy.

Jul 22 2007 Anchor

umm, yeah, but I was saying that he hasn't made a few conversions. Only 1 has been made. 2 are being converted.

Jul 22 2007 Anchor

Well I wasn't rejecting that, was I?

Jul 30 2007 Anchor

No way that Delorean is worth 150 grand. If I remember correctly, a refurbished one from the DMC website with every single option added on is less than 60k.
