I get that you guys are going for realism with the gas feature, but is it really needed?

Just my personal opinion on it, I don't think it really adds anything to the game. Its not like its a bad feature or anything, I don't really see the point in it. I mean, it doesn't drop fast enough for it to ever really be a factor driving around the city. As for when the game gets to Part 3 and the Gas Tank is ruptured, couldn't that just as easily be told in a cutscene and then make the DeLorean undriveable from that point on?

that would be just as easy but it also adds a bit of fun to the game. say youre in 1885 after you finish the game and you run out of gas. you would then have to figure out how to get (excuse the pun) "Back To The Future"

I donno, I guess I just don't think it really adds to my enjoyment of the game in any way. Its a nice little novelty, but nothing much beyond that imo.

I mean, with what you said of if someone goes back to 1885 after they finish the game, it would be incredibly easy not to run out of gas. Just keep tabs on how full it is and when it starts to get kinda low, travel "back to the future", fill up and go back to the past. You would have to physically make sure you run out of gas in that time period in order for that to work. Its pretty much impossible for you to accidentally run out of gas with how slow it goes, ya know what I mean?

Besides, shouldn't people only be able to travel back into 1885 once? Or at least the DeLorean needs to stop driving once you get to 1885. With how the landscape will change from 1885 to any of the other time periods, theres a very good chance of going "back to the future" and ending up inside some building that wasn't there in the past.

Well maybe they want to run out of gas. Then they have to figure out how to get back because this does give some people enjoyment because they have fun in the process. Plus you need something to do after the game. You could wreak havoc in 1885 with todays weapons. Now thats fun.

I can pretty much guarantee that you wont be able to do that in the final version of the game. Last time I checked, Marty didn't bring a Chainsaw/Grenade/RPG/Chain Gun with him back to 1885...

On your first few sentences though, that still doesn't change my point. There can only be one real way to travel to the future when you run out of gas in 1885, thats on the train tracks. If you try anything else (if there is anything else) you run the risk of traveling into a building.

You're forgetting about cheat codes. Put in a weapon cheat and BAM you got a brand new set of weapons. I'm not 100% sure you can use cheat codes in the final version but that was where I was getting to with the weapons.

I can't really argue with your reasoning here because you do make sense. If I had to stay true to the movies (no weapons and traveling on tracks) I would. It was just thought of what you could maybe do. Maybe if there was any other option I would try it.

i wasn't keen on adding fuel either, but the majority wanted it, so.............

spykes in terms of weapons and police etc this game isnt going to religiously follow the movies

after all it is grand theft auto back to the future isnt it what would be the fun in that if you couldnt drive round hill valley killing people, get the cops on you and time travel to get away from them forcing them to crash into a building that doesnt exist in the era you are heading to.

i agree about fuel
could be fun
but ultimately pointless

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

there must be as many people complaining about fuel now as there were people saying they wanted it when we asked

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

I for one find it useless.

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

I want it stay. I don't know 'bout the rest.

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

i for one am pro-fuel. personally, i like the realism of being able to run out of fuel but i can see how other might not

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

i too think its neat, like ur the only delorean on in that time century, ur tank is low and urve only got one shot at time travling left before ur out of plutonium,....as soon as u hit 85mph ur completely out of gas...what are u going to do about it? you could always use tommy's unusual strength to push the car little by little to the nearest gas station or grab a another plain car near by and try and control the delorean in a push drive with that car or who knows heh..

but yeah i think its a neat feature lol.

They may not be "religiously" following the movie, but they aren't keeping many weapons in the final version. I'm pretty sure I've heard them say as much. Back to the Future isn't about being able to go somewhere and mo-down a ton of people. If thats what you want, just keep a copy of this beta on hand and play it instead. The only weapons the final version would have is what was the movie... and basically the only weapons that we saw were from the Lybians in #1, Biff's gun in #2 and then a few pistols from #3.

Basically what I'm trying to say is that they are gonna be following the movie a bit closer than what you'd think.

Anyway, back to the gas situation... Ya, it does add some realism, but going to the gas station isn't really "fun" in real life, so its not really all that fun in the game. It's just something you do because you have too. Thats why I really don't think it adds anything to this game.

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

i know in next version why not make it you can buy or find tanks of gas like u do plutonium and when u run out of fuel u just go to the side of the car and it refuels it with one of ur gas tanks then once u run out of what u got u need to go get some at different olocations then too like gas statiosn or sunshine autos or something?

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

Better find a horse :) Maximum of 45, X)

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

we still can't stop cheats from creating weapons, lol. And not many people carry spare tanks for refueling.

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

That is if you have the fastest horse in the world, protonkid.

I am very pro-fuel. I really am looking forward to getting myself stranded in the old west again after the game has been completed. It adds an extra challenge for those who want it. I just hope that you will be able to push the Delorean with a train again after the game has been beaten.

Aug 2 2007 Anchor

I agree with NeoSephiroth I like the fuel feature one thing to think about is maybe reducing the time it takes for the fuel to run out. Don't make it too ridiculous but maybe have it run out after about an hour or so.

Aug 3 2007 Anchor

It reminds me of when my uncle took me on a ride in his Mercedes Sl, once he pushed the pedal to the metal, the fuel needle started falling down! So K may be right.

Aug 3 2007 Anchor

sl what? 500? 55? 600? 65?

Aug 3 2007 Anchor

65 I think, I don't remember, it was a few years ago. A Sport convertible. It was just DEVOURING gas!

Aug 3 2007 Anchor

Another case are Japanese cars, which somehow don't eat so much, my cousin took me and my dog for a ride in his Supra, base not modded. Somewhere about 140 the dog started howling, because we were in a car accident a few months before... But the point is, Mercedes was using more fuel than Supra. I don't know if it can be included in the mod, but I think some cars should burn the fuel up faster than others. That's my point/

Aug 3 2007 Anchor

thats cause a supra has like a 2 or 3 litre straight 4. a merc sl65 has a 6.5 V8. and all sl class mercs a convertibles. the only diff is the engine size. 500, 55, 600 and 65 and 5 litre, 5.5 litre, 6 litre and 6.5 litre engines respectivly
