I've got a question about the time travel thing. When you travel, the map of Vice City changes: all buildings you destroyed in the missions are destroyed. So now my question: Is there one big map, where both, the old and the new vice city exist and with a time travel you just change the place in the big map, or do you really are on one map (old city) and when you time travel, you change into a complete new map (new city)??

If there were different maps, there would be ways travelling between them without any mods. Like the hidden city in Gta3 or liberty city in San andreas.

So you mean you have a big map, where Vice City 1996 and Vice City 1997 (or what the years were) are and you just change the position with a time travel?

it will be exactly like real life if time travel was possible.

I think he means how you will go about doing it in the game, from a technical standpoint. Hes asking whether you are going to use a massive change building script to modify a single map into the different eras of hill valley, or if all 4 versions will exist at once in one giant map, seperated by invisible walls and mountains so you cant see the other maps. Like for example, the map might look something like this if viewed from the map editor:

1885 | 1955
____ |_____
1985 | 2015

so if someone time travels at XYZ position 274, 356, 193 in 1955 to 1985, you would have to find the counterpart coordinate to this location in the 1985 section of the map and send the player there, and alter the time of day. is this how you are going to pull off time travel in the final version?

that ASCII diagram didnt quite turn out the way I intended it too, but I think you catch the meaning.

Yes, i understand that and I'm telling you, it will be like time travel in the real world. Now tell me, does that diagram mirror what time travel would really be like?

Think about it and remember what changes. And now read it again and get your answer.
