Hi there,

I recently downloaded both 0.2a and the update 0.2b. I try to follow the instructions, by Downloading the IMG Tools, and delete the files, while replacing with the new ones.

However, when I try to delete the files, it takes ages to delete... Or should I say.. it won't delete, though it tells me it's deleting. It can't take that long to delete, does it?

Also, I tried to replace the files instead of deletion, but it tells me the file is too big.

Is there somewhere a modified gta3.img specialy made for this mod to download or is that a cheeky question? (Actually it is.. It's Rockstar's property, aye?)

Thanks in Advance!

It shouldn't take long to delete, mine only takes a second or two.
Do you have an old computer? And what IMG Tool are you using? I would consider downloading a different IMG Tool.
Try: Thegtaplace.com (if this isn't what your using already.)
And yeah, I think it's illegal to upload gta3.img and send it to other people, and besides, its a huge file anyway - it would take ages to upload/download.

That's the exact one, which I have downloaded!

I use an AMD Atholn +1800 256 mB RAM, running Windows 98. It's not that old, I think...

when I try to delete a file, I waited 15 minutes before I quite the sofrware. because the software has gone stuck. (though I could just press the cross on the top right of the window.)

Try this IMG tool: Thegtaplace.com

Alright, it worked with the IMG Tool.

However, I cannot install the sounds, because I get Access Denied when I try to load the sfx.SDT File. I already removed the "Read-only" check button.

Edit: Why does it take forever to load when your traveling from 1 island to another?

Read this for your sound problem: Moddb.com
And it usually only takes ages to load when flying - however it may be because of your graphics card or something, what graphics card do you have?

Fixed the loading screen problem. Started playing a little, and didn't know KITT was there too! I checked the controls, but.. how can you let him Autodrive you while you're inside the car?

I use ASUS Geforce 3 T2 V8200 Deluxe.

Downloaded the program, but I get a program-error and tells me to quit the program and contact the producer if I get trouble in the future with it.

i think i deleted that for 0.2b

As for the nullpointers, give me a screenshot of the error, as that usually helps me in finding the problem. Make sure the folder nullpointer's in is also in the background.

Here it is, hope you can see the problem, despite the Language.

ok, one thing that struck me in the message was gdi.exe. Now that is a program that has absolutely nothing to do with either the mod or program, but has to do with the all dreaded Windows. What OS are you using? From the looks of it and a quick search, it looks like a pre-XP OS you're using. If thats the case, you might want to search gdi.exe on google to find problems. Unfortunately, I do not know any more specifics from here, not having a pre-XP machine and seeing as how this isn't mod-related but Bill Gates-related.

I'm using Windows 98SE. I don't know how to fix those errors when the source is known like gdi.exe . I've tried googling it, but haven't found yet any useful information about it... only about the error when you're on the loading screen of Windows, which I haven't.

Well, the tool is a dos program. have you tried running any other dos programs?

May 29 2007 Anchor

Certainly, and most of them (if not all) worked fine.

Geuss, I'll have to play with any sounds or is there another way?

May 29 2007 Anchor

you can try to see if dosbox can run it.

Looks like I can't run it even through DOS... Access Denied.

I've seen this type of error before with 98se, i believe its not the files you have but where your trying to put them, try reinstalling VC in a different directory. When ever i got the access denied error i would either install a game on my second harddrive or on my desktop, desktop only worked 50% of the time or so, but putting it on a different drive altogether seemed to solve the access denied issue completely. I'm also 99% sure upgrading to xp will solve the problem, if that is an option for you.

This scares me. I have been watching white noise recently, so I'm afraid of everything connected to computers. However, I think 98 is a critical minimum for Vice, this mod eats more streaming memory than Vice does I suppose, so you might need to Upgrade your DOS (someone told me dos are for Dirty Operation System)

May 29 2007 Anchor

I want to upgrade my comp if I'm getting XP, not that my machine is from the 20th Century (instead, it's from March 2002). I don't think it's gonna happan soon, upgrading my comp.

I need to clean up some stuff before I reinstall it into a different directory.

Upgrade Dos? Dos can be upgraded? Never heard of it.

May 29 2007 Anchor

hello, dos is only needed for nullpointers. Vice does not need dos at all. Study before you post pk and stop misleading people.

May 30 2007 Anchor

My mistake, you're talking like you never make'em :(

May 30 2007 Anchor

Besides my QUAKE runs on DOS.
