hiya, dont know if anyone else would want the same, but before i had this mod i had my flying delorean model on a helicopter, and i noticed the other day that the effects the helicopter makes as it hovers above the ground look really good (creates like wind and dust under "delorean") as if, like the film, there are jets under the delorean. Would it be possible to take the coding of the helicopter and add it to the current flying delorean. Thanks, just wondering, thoughts of other people as well would be good to know as well.
Cheers

Well the hovercars (sorry, i know i'm not the part of the crew) were magnetic, which means they didn't have enough power to dust the town up. Sorry.

thats part of the game engine and only exists with helicopter, and is part of a coding that no one but rockstar can touch.

ok thanks for hearing me out and letting me know

oh yeh and proton kid, why dont you check out the start of bttf2, where you see the delorean lift off right before it goes to the future, i think it shows clouds/dust which look the same as what i was asking about:

it cant be done in the way your talking about. but how about if it replaces a heli as well and when it hits 45 it switches to the plane like switching to flying from driving mode? is that possible? if it is, it would look a bit glitchy though so i dont blame you delorean if you dont wanna do it. just a suggestion. too bad moddb doesn't have the ability to create polls, we could have a vote.

that is possible, but as kitt said, it looks glitchy. I'd rather live with a delorean that doesn't create dust clouds then a delorean that suddenly dissapears and reappears with the appropriate sounds and a tommy that appears outside the car for a split second (See driving to flying transformation), not to mention completely resetting roll and pitch to 0, as in, if you're going up and also banking, the code will level it out so it looks like you're going straight forward, and then it will also set the speed to go straight forward.

umm....long story short, coding heli to plane is extremely glitchy.

for myself, i always liked the controls of helis in gta. hence i liked the handling when i used to change a maverick to a flying delorean before i new about the mod. question: is it just me or it's kinda hard when you're falling down to re-level the delorean before it hits the road? it tends to fly straight down

Jul 28 2007 Anchor

i did change the handling, so it should be a bit easier.

alright. can't wait to play with the updated models!

This is gonna be killer

Dan, yes the take off does, but then the car switches to magnetic stabilizers, I think you meant if it can be done when the delorean is hovering? Then it wasn't dusting, BUT! If the Delorean goes past the ground pretty fast it should be dusting, but GTA has no support for it.

The dust clouds can be made in particle.cfg, for example I have some burnout smoke thats pretty big:

I suppose the line could be edited, to make it smaller...
Just a suggestion maybe some script could be done to make the line above apply to the hovering DeLorean.

umm, that does nothing for the flying delorean. It only affects normal cars. And that pic looks like your delorean's on fire, lol.

It can be scripted, but it would look nothing like what the helicopter does. That, and once we move to Hill Valley with all those buildings, the smoke system will become glitchy as it would depend on the elevation of the ground. Unfortunately, the buildings themselves will be objects, so you would have nonexistant smoke when going over buildings. That, and I can never reproduce the effect helicopters does. Frankly, it's not that important to have, and it's better not to have it then have a glitchy version.
