The mod itself would be almost identical to that of AVP 1 with the possibility of a few new things here and there and a huge make over in graphics and effects. It should still give that classic feel that so many gamers enjoyed for years.

With the announcement of the new AVP game, this puts us between a rock and a hard place; even more so now and greatly enhances our chance of getting “Foxed”. I talked with my team and we decided to move the Mod to the new AVP 2010 engine. Provided we get the tools and option for dedicated servers. However this is bittersweet for us because we have come so far with the code/maps and other aspects of the Mod. Let me tell you, coding wall-walking on the HL2 engine was not easy to pull off. Tons of hours went into that alone. Tron, Your the man! Secondly I would like to address the HL2 community and our followers. Simply put, you guys rock! Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement in your comments. I truly hope you will follow us to the new engine. I'm sure the new rebellion game is going to ROCK! The good news in all of this is by moving to the new engine we could bypass all the legal troubles and other stuff and just focus on the Mod.

However we face yet another problem, a BIG problem. There is talk of AVP not having dedicated servers and going the Call of duty MW 2 way. We can't let this happen. It would kill any chances for Mod's to be made on this engine and any other game engine that goes this way. PLEASE take the time to voice your opinions on their official Forums located here: Forums.sega.com.

Again thank you for all your support and stop by our website for future updates.

I don't reckon you have a lot done, you see.
That is why you want to move to their engine, so you can use all their content, most likely models. If you supposedly have a lot of work done on Source, then why would you just throw it away? An attempt to avoid making all those models?

That's not true at all. In fact we had wall-walking about 95% done. Most of the weapons, Some models maps etc. However we did have one huge bug with wall-walking. When wall-walking on say a platform when you would come to the edge it would shoot you up to the ceiling and not around the edge like intended. Plus we had a few other things done as well but your entitled to your own opinion. In fact if you would take the time to look at our past news you would see we was making great progress. Then we got news of the new AVP game.

Glad I never heard of this or I would have been really disappointed right now. :-/

Still am sort of. The new AvP is clearly a console centric game. I doubt it'll even be moddable.

If that's the case it's not the end. We will continue with it on HL2.

Glad to see you guys are still here, not surprised you took this path, I was kinda expecting it after I heard about the new AvP. I'll most definitely follow the mod there as well but I hope for dedicated servers...MW2 is going to fail big time (community and mod wise) due to the lack of dedicated servers, hopefully the guys at Sega will think twice before going the MW2 way.

Good luck guys.

I don't want this to sound like a knock on you guys, but I always get really... what's the word... suspicious? Nervous? Let down? (All of the above?) ...When a mod changes engines. Especially to an engine that will, undoubtedly, run very poorly on my system.

Best of luck to you. Let's all hope that the no dedicated server policy doesn't become the norm.

You guys could mod Aliens: colonial marines when it comesout.Sure it's a long way off, BUT it uses the unreal engine. More accessable than the one you guys are planning on moving on to?
