It's 1943 and the darkest days of the Second World War are raging. Intelligence reports that Nazi nuclear physicist Dr. Josef B. Engelke has successfully split the atom and is in the process of building a weapon for Hitler capable of destroying London. The Allies' top spy, B.J. Blazkowicz, has been chosen for this top secret mission. Engelke's laboratory is at a currently unknown location. Known as Atomprojekt, the nuclear project is being funded by Hitler and managed from the military installation at Erlangen. Go to Erlangen and discover the location of Engelke's research facility. Then, you must go to the laboratory, shut down the reactor, and assassinate Engelke. Be quick, as it is not known how close Engelke is to having a usable weapon.
Atomprojekt contains 34 levels that closely follow the style of the original Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of Destiny missions. All levels have been balanced for pistol start or continuous play. There are also three secret levels for you to discover, the last of which is especially well hidden.
What are the requirement for this software? I assume it will require Windows.
Yes, it is a Wolf4SDL mod so it runs on all version of Windows. If you have Linux you can use WINE to run it.
Runs on Wine on OS X as well. Super Fun though i do not remember Wolf3d being this hard.
Awesome glad you are enjoying it! In terms of difficulty, what level are you playing on? If you are playing on Death Incarnate, it is indeed more difficult than the original Wolf3D.
Is there any way to make it playable in MS-DOS?
I still play games on original hardware (486DX4)
BTW, Love it, great job!
Glad you are enjoying it! As for DOS, I didn't release a DOS version of this mod because with the new enemies and features, it crosses the 640K barrier. My previous mod, Passage to Hollenteufel, does have a DOS version.
Oh Thanx! I never played Passage to Hollenteufel.
How far beyond 640kb you are? There is no way to pass it somehow?
Do you have other DOS mods of Wolf3d? Can you recomend any.
Again, I would love to play such mod on original 486 with CRT monitor.
The Wolf3D engine in DOS is limited to 640K, like most DOS programs of the era were. Doom finally took advantage of HIMEM.
You should check out Passage to Hollenteufel. The first few levels are a little mazey so you may or may not enjoy them depending on how much you enjoy mazey maps. However, starting at about floor 7, the maps get quite similar to Atomprojekt. I made one in 2000 called "The Road to Neuschwanstein" which you could play.
Aside from that, I would recommend Schabbs 2000 by Gary Ragland, Chemical Warfare by Jack Ryerson, and Project Totengraber by BJ Rowan. Those are all great DOS mods that retain the feel of the original game.
