Welcome to Assault on Overwatch, a short modification for Half-Life 2: Episode 2.

BACKGROUND

On December 1st, 2009, Planet Phillip started his Sniperville Competition. The point of the competition was to create one single-player map that focused on forcing the player to interact with "a Combine sniper" in an interesting way. I decided to make this my first competition attempt.

Things were going well all month but in the last week or so, it became obvious to me that I would not be able to finish the map how I wanted to. So I've pulled out of the competition altogether so I could work on the map without the stress of a looming deadline.

PREMISE

The idea here is that Gordon Freeman is leading a group of rebels through a Combine-infested forest on the way to destroy Overwatch Broadcast Node #128. Destroying this structure would kill communications for Combine forces all across the forest, making them much easier for the Resistance to kill off. Along the way, the player will undoubtedly encounter numerous groups of Combine forces, including Combine snipers.

RELEASE DATE

Since I've been working on this map for several weeks already, I can safely say that the map will be finished in two weeks. Therefore, I'm setting a release date of 1 February 2010.

So until then, don't get shot.
