1. What is AGSA?

Allied Generals Shattered Alliance (AGSA) is a total conversion modification of Command & Conquer™ Yuri's Revenge™. It features a complete overhaul of the original game, set in an alternate what-if? timeline where a divergence in the Allied timeline of Command & Conquer™ Red Alert™ leads to the emergence of three new superpowers fighting over a post apocalyptic world torn apart by a failed time machine experiment.

2. When is AGSA released?

202x

3.Do I need Yuri's Revenge to play AGSA?

Yes, AGSA is not standalone. You will need to own legitimate copy of Red Alert 2 and its expansion Yuri's Revenge to play AGSA. Further information can be found on the CNCNet website.

4. Will I be able to play AGSA online?

Yes. AGSA uses CnCNet which makes online play a simple process. Once you are logged into the internet, click the CNCNet button on the client main menu. Log in with a username of your choice, and you will be sent to the AGSA multiplayer lobby. There you can host and join games and chat with players.

5.Will AGSA have single player campaign?

Whilst I would love to create a single player campaign which would delve deeper into the lore and worldbuilding that I have previously shared, on a practical level would require a significant amount of resources e.g. map makers, custom scripting, custom assets, etc. Alongside the technical difficulties this would also distract from the multiplayer component of the game and its original intention to have crazy and huge multiplayer battles with other players or AI.

Whilst I'm not saying it will never happen it is unlikely for now. However I will be aiming to add challenging survival or horde style maps which don't have insane lag spikes / gameplay issues. There will also be a conscious effort to not just have "a flat piece of land" as a map.

6. Would you port AGSA to another game engine?

The amount of time and effort to build AGSA on the RA2 engine, it is highly unlikely that I start over on a new engine. This is especially true for 3D engines which require a completely different level of coding and modelling knowledge. This also includes OpenRA an open source RTS engine which uses freeware assets from older CNC games.

7. Can I use AGSA assets in my own mod?

Short answer is no. AGSA and all of its assets, with the exception of original Red Alert 2 and its expansion assets and public assets as listed in the credits, are property of the AGSA Team. You are not permitted to use any proprietary assets from AGSA in any public project without explicit permission from the developers.

If you wish to use assets for your own private and personal use, this is of course allowed, but any form of redistribution of the assets specific to this mod is strictly forbidden, with or without credit unless you've been given permission.

I have personally funded development costs for this project. This includes custom EVA e.g. Frank Klepacki as the Paradigm EVA and freelancers for 3d modelling, videos or concept art. I've also had the privilege of working with several modders and volunteers over these years who spent countless hours of their own free time to help me develop this mod.

While OpenRA looks almost the same it's completely different under the hood and would require remaking a lot of the mod.

OpenRA is an open-source RTS game engine which has freeware assets from older cnc games as default assets Openra.net

As mentioned by Kerbiter on the outside it looks the same but the actual coding and gameplay mechanics are completely different e.g. project behaviour, handling of isometric terrain and pathfinding.

Whilst it is a good addition for the modding community it is like comparing a beefburger vs a chicken burger and saying the chicken burger is a beefburger.
