With the origins of out-of-place artifacts (OOPArts) being parallel universes, it is likely that there are some universes where the Earth ceases to exist in a habitable state. The Valkyrie is believed to be materiel from that canceled universe. Theorized to be European in origin, the machine gun and missile racks were unusable. ESDF scientists and engineers fitted a new powerplant and laser to the jumpjet and the first Valkyrie prototype was created.
The Valkyrie is the standard T2 VTOL of the ESDF armed forces. Equipped with a rapid firing laser, the pinpoint accuracy of this weapon can melt infantry, lightly armored vehicles and structures with equal ease.
A versatile unit, the Valkyrie can 'deploy' to divert energy to its turbofans. The result is increased movement speed at the cost of decreased firepower for a short period of time. This is useful for chasing weakened units or escaping situations where the enemy has a strong anti-aircraft presence.
