just a quick update- shortly after I planned to start the next generation of Utopia Online, I realized I had an album in the works that needed to be completed first before I dove into this massive project. The album is finished now and my attention is back on Utopian Realms. The code has been reworked and the lobby gametype is almost at a testable level. I'm still learning all the new tools and features of the Unreal 3 engine as it is quite an upgrade from the previous ut2k4. I found an old collection of textures that I ripped from the PC version of the original phantasy star online that are all in powers of 2 and imported nicely. I've been using these to learn the material editor and other map making experiments and despite a small resolution with some normal mapping and emission/specularity they look quite nice. Expect a smallscale alpha/beta/test version of the lobby soon.
I've been away for a LONG while, 2 yrs. My PC gave out then started a second life with Seigmancer, and being a dad and a phantasy star universe addict. Working on some Nintendo DS homebrew currently and possibly Unreal 3 engine in the future when I can get a decent PC empire of parts again. I figure theres no one with 2k4 installed anymore so the download would be useless, but some of the other contributors still keep in contact and we are working on stuff of different mediums.
Ive been having a few cpu problems when running the unreal engine, fps drops every minute or so. I'm letting seigmancer take this over until I can figure out what to do, also seeing the next-gen demo's from E3 make me want to wait for and develop for those platforms.
Im alittle burnt on things, but still goin at it strong. Got the ragdolls to work tonight, its such a blast to kick them around maps with the MDK and shotgun. I Rethought out some of the gametype stuff, but its always subject to change like everything. Racking my brain thinking of stuff to add and figuring out what is truely ready for the next release.
A maverick hunter like Zero would be fun to play as...

I havent been working on gametypes very much lately. My friend Rob has been making some really cool weapon models. I have a screen up in the gallery of all the new items Ive been working on. let see Ive made...
Skateboard- works but is slow.
BMX- works but handle bars spin opposite direction :(
UluSword=big sword, something you would see in a devil may cry or final fantasy game.
Wicked- Two handed/double sided slasher
Bong-Gets you high, press fire to take a toke
combat knife- your basic combat knife
tactical shotgun- uses modified flak cannon fire code.
Also made a custom skin and a few player animations like a better idle stand with the arms at the side and an indian sit. You can shoot weapons while sitting like this. Many more are coming too. If you would like any of these to use now just contact me, but I'll release them all when I feel they are ready.
Anyone who would like to take over this mod and code for it is welcome.
I have a ton of other stuff I need to get done. I will still make maps for it though.

the newest version is almost done, just a few small things to add, will be available in UMOD and ZIP formats. Tons of new gametypes included that will be on the server so there is no need for constant updates. Making some custom gametypes for Mapvote.

Just click the post ideas/questions link on the main page to go there.I have been working on the code and menus alot lately getting everything ready for a new beta release. Also the new beta will include some code from some really talented coders as well as updated maps. It's actually in the form of a total conversion (mod)now which allows me to make so many more customizations to stuff like ini files.

the inside of this place is HUGE! a massive staircase and all kinds of cool stuff.
I finally have it working, though not to the full extent. if you connect to ut2004://24.159.124.63 you should be able to join in the game with us. In the next few days we'll be putting all the maps we've worked on up available for play. A few ideas ive had are coming to life like snowboarding and a jam session place to plug your instruments into your mic line to let others listen to you play and eventually play toghether.
