Only the Sage/Elemental/Healer (randomly two of them, as you said) appear under the Chinese shop guy (where you can do your shopping before the battle starts). I haven't bought the Smith yet.
I've tried several times now, but my trusty dog never appears :/

I like the updates I've seen so far (no upgrading 'special', being 'surrounded' when outnumbered..) I'll keep testing ;)

One more thing: Spending 10 Gold for hiring new heroes might be obsolete.. I get a re-roll of characters every time I enter and leave the mission screen.

Also, please help me with my latest bug: the disappearing dog^^

Uh.. My Potion-Dog disappeared. I used him several times, but after I bought the healing-chicken, he simply vanished!
Also also cannot seem to find him in the meta-shop anymore (which is to be expected, since I bought him).

What happened here..?

That is true, and to be honest, it took me a few tries to succeed. Basically you want to focus on the archers and gunners first and maybe use a few potions if there are more than one of those units. I pretty much always chose the all-potions-event to stock up my whole inventory and almost never chose the gnome. Combined with the earlier mentioned stance-strategy it becomes much easier.

Also leveling up speed is the way to go.. It basically quadruples your attack since you can strike much more often than your opponent.

Another reason why I tend to solo through the battles is mere necessity.. that being the fact than most characters don't level up as fast as the damage-dealer. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but after a while when the level difference has become too high, there is no point in wasting potions (and possible exp) in reviving fallen heroes, because they'll faint after the next hit anyway.
Are you going to address the soloing-issue?

So far, I'm hooked and I obviously love the game!
There are a few issues though, I'd like to share with you for possible future changes/additions.

For one thing, the game is very hard. This may be intended right now, as it doesn't have too much content yet, but this might be a huge turn-off for many. I'd like to share a few tricks that make the game (too) easy:

1. The first (and pretty much only) pet you need is the potion-dog. The rest should be self-explanatory.
2. It's much easier to beat with a single character - preferably a Paladin, since he can heal himself. Simply concentrate leveling on him and have the others 'faint' early on. Your Paladin will level up fast and high.. All thanks to the fact that enemies that don't have a hero in front of them, wait until it's their turn to get a beating.
3. Use the Paladin's Courage-Stance (higher attack, lower speed and defense) only when he's about to attack and simply deactive it immediately after he strikes.
You could implement a cooldown for stances.. This would make exploiting #3 harder.
