Ok so I determined that with my ancient WinXP machine I needed to find a Java7 download to upgrade from Java6, and this made things work for me. The basic Co8 mod pack offered at the top of the page seems to be the one needed. With Java7 installed the mod-pack seems to have properly installed. An oddity came when I found that all my older characters were no longer available and my previous games were also unavailable, but I wasn't that far into the game yet so it's only a minor problem.

I am just trying to verify for my self reference. I have the GoG version of the game, probably with patch#3, what do I need to download and install?
