Discovery Freelancer

Mod review

+ is pros, - is cons.

+ They weren't lying when they said its like an expansion pack in the original Freelancer; this mod features a boat load of new ships and ship classes such as Transports, Gunboats, Cruisers, and even Battleships that exist in the vanilla game available to the player. As if that wasn't enough, they even went on to add more ships for those unintended ship variants such as Transports exclusive to each House in Sirius, Gunboats, Cruisers, and even Battleships for the more independent and criminal factions like the Bounty Hunters Guild and Liberty Rogues respectively.
+ The sheer immersion that exists in the form of Battleship encounters and more varied NPC squads piloting ships added by this very mod gives the game life unseen in Vanilla Freelancer, even by yourself.
+ Surprisingly generous OpenSP mode allows you to set your rep, cash, and starting planet to any of your liking...not to mention that playing alone with so much more content in a more sandbox world than the vanilla Freelancer should be exciting in its own merit.
- The Role-playing rules are unnervingly atrocious, it DOES feel like a douchebag fanfiction when you're forced to carry the brunt of the game's PRECIOUS IMMERSION into your brain, worrying about utter ******** playermade rules like disrupting your cruise while minding your own business because of some new law about Diamonds being contraband instead of worrying about the places you KNOW will be rough because of the NPCs.
- Transports IMO do feel a tad OP against light and heavy fighter NPCs like Outcasts and Rogues. While I won't deny its fun it DOES feel OP if I can take out bombers in a few shots as much as they can do the same.
- The improved AI script, its like they just put it there for the sake of a new feature. In practice, this results in some REALLY frustrating gunfights unless you're not alone and/or have a Transport. In turn resulting in rewards too small for all the work.

All in all, its fun but the RP is just BS
