I'm a mapper that makes maps and occasional mods for EDGE, and there's a new version, and branch of EDGE called EDGE Classic that rolls back the engine's base to version 1.35, while building brand new and loads of new features and quality of life improvements across the board. I can confidently say this is the best way to play EDGE and it's only going to get better from here!
LAN multiplayer was a feature in development on the 3D-focused fork of EDGE, but with lack of updates and feedback, the features are just in limbo. There currently doesnt seem to be a focus on LAN with the Classic fork, but there is support for local deathmatch using bots in the Advanced Start menu.
Lastly, if there is a way to contact the authors of the OG Goldeneye EDGE, I'd like to get the community involved to update this version and bring the 3D modeled weapons over to EDGE.
