They are the Source engine. EFTC has been built from the HL2 Multiplayer source code - we've been having some fun :)

A mapper would be able to tell you better but I believe that parallax occlusion mapping is being used on these screenshots as well as a completely re-built UI and HUD, which is probably why they look so foreign
