I read that the dark look was created to show her relationship with the water because of the power of Nenya, even though I think it has scared many people or got misunderstood. Honestly I would have liked more a representation of her bright and blessed, since she is a high elf of Valinor.
Her dark look was done because Galadriel was affected in Dol Guldur by evil environment and the presence of Sauron, who draining her energy.
I hope that we will see more in the extended version. But as we know, she was capable resist and banish Sauron away. ;o)
After her confrontation with Sauron and when is finally banished, thereby totaling removing him from sapping her energy, the beautiful image of Galadriel reappears immediately.
