Report RSS July Blog Update

Posted by on

It's been a little over a year since my last blog update, so I figure it's about time I catch all that still care about what and how I'm doing up. Still at home unfortunately, but I've been somewhat keeping busy with building up my portfolio and powering my way through the Yakuza series. My computer very nearly died about a month ago now, forcing me to upgrade my hardware and dump Windows once and for all, as well. Half-Life: Particle Fusion is slowly but surely still being worked on every now and then in the background, so hopefully I'll finally have something worth showing off soon enough, but it may not be on this platform, and I'll explain why later in this post. Here we go!

In my eternal struggle to spread my wings, I've been attempting to put together my portfolio of all the work I've done over the past decade or so, throwing out stuff not worth showing, and throwing in stuff that is. Seems easy, but not when you're incredibly disjointed and depressed. Sad. However, between that, I've been absolutely HOOKED on the Yakuza franchise. Kiryu is amazing and Majima is the best. The writing is incredibly well done and keeps you engrossed in the stories they tell until the very end. I'm looking forward to finishing up the series as I go along (and once I get a graphics card that's good enough to run 5 through 7, oops).

This part really sucks, but I should've known it'd come eventually. My motherboard and RAM sticks started failing about a month ago, causing annoying freezes that would force me to hard reset my computer. I was tempted to just buy the same parts I had years ago so I could have the same setup, but once I saw the prices for them now, I instantly changed my mind. So I ended up getting a new motherboard, new processor, new CPU fan, new RAM sticks, and a new PSU. It's almost like I'm running a completely new system despite the fact that I'm still using the same old case. With all that, I had to make a decision. Either I reinstall an already dead OS (Windows 7) or I finally make the jump to Linux. I think it's fairly obvious as to which once I chose. So, yeah, I'm an OpenSUSE Linux user now! Hooray! Finally! Other exclamations!

Lastly, while I've been working on my portfolio, I've also been planning out the official Particle Fusion website that will possibly be an HLC hosted mod or on the old Bloodbath site that has recently been reacquired. I'm still thinking about which direction to go on that one. I've already got a basic idea of what I'd like the site to look like, and it's styled after early 2000s mod websites, since I've always liked the way those look anyway, compared to what websites look like now. Anyway, when it comes to future updates to the project, I've been thinking about exclusively switching over to the website itself as well as the new LambdaGeneration social media platform. It seems like a fun little experiment and gives me more of an excuse to be social with my followers. The final project will still be posted here when it's done (if it's ever done, hah), but future updates will be exclusive to those sources, so keep an eye out for when I launch them! That's all for now. Peace!
