It's been a little over a year since my last blog update, so I figure it's about time I catch all that still care about what and how I'm doing up. Still at home unfortunately, but I've been somewhat keeping busy with building up my portfolio and powering my way through the Yakuza series. My computer very nearly died about a month ago now, forcing me to upgrade my hardware and dump Windows once and for all, as well. Half-Life: Particle Fusion is slowly but surely still being worked on every now and then in the background, so hopefully I'll finally have something worth showing off soon enough, but it may not be on this platform, and I'll explain why later in this post. Here we go!

In my eternal struggle to spread my wings, I've been attempting to put together my portfolio of all the work I've done over the past decade or so, throwing out stuff not worth showing, and throwing in stuff that is. Seems easy, but not when you're incredibly disjointed and depressed. Sad. However, between that, I've been absolutely HOOKED on the Yakuza franchise. Kiryu is amazing and Majima is the best. The writing is incredibly well done and keeps you engrossed in the stories they tell until the very end. I'm looking forward to finishing up the series as I go along (and once I get a graphics card that's good enough to run 5 through 7, oops).

This part really sucks, but I should've known it'd come eventually. My motherboard and RAM sticks started failing about a month ago, causing annoying freezes that would force me to hard reset my computer. I was tempted to just buy the same parts I had years ago so I could have the same setup, but once I saw the prices for them now, I instantly changed my mind. So I ended up getting a new motherboard, new processor, new CPU fan, new RAM sticks, and a new PSU. It's almost like I'm running a completely new system despite the fact that I'm still using the same old case. With all that, I had to make a decision. Either I reinstall an already dead OS (Windows 7) or I finally make the jump to Linux. I think it's fairly obvious as to which once I chose. So, yeah, I'm an OpenSUSE Linux user now! Hooray! Finally! Other exclamations!

Lastly, while I've been working on my portfolio, I've also been planning out the official Particle Fusion website that will possibly be an HLC hosted mod or on the old Bloodbath site that has recently been reacquired. I'm still thinking about which direction to go on that one. I've already got a basic idea of what I'd like the site to look like, and it's styled after early 2000s mod websites, since I've always liked the way those look anyway, compared to what websites look like now. Anyway, when it comes to future updates to the project, I've been thinking about exclusively switching over to the website itself as well as the new LambdaGeneration social media platform. It seems like a fun little experiment and gives me more of an excuse to be social with my followers. The final project will still be posted here when it's done (if it's ever done, hah), but future updates will be exclusive to those sources, so keep an eye out for when I launch them! That's all for now. Peace!

Haven't touched this in a couple years eh? Well I've got fantastic news. I've... gaduated? Gradumacated?! GRADUATED! No more college for the time being! Hooray! I might have to go back in the future though, as tech is an ever evolving field. But yeah! Hooray for me! Other than that exciting news, I've been chipping away at various things both in modding and in my personal life, as now that I've graduated from college, I've been planning my next move, which is to get out of this rural hellhole I'm currently living in. Packing up things that I plan to take, and sorting through things I plan to sell. When it comes to modding though, I've been working in the background as usual on Particle Fusion as well as doing little odd jobs for Dark Matter here and there when I have time. Hopefully I'll have something to show for it all sometime soon. I don't want to make any promises though, since I kept making promises to show things "soon" and have failed to deliver on that promise 90% of the time. Anyway, that's it for now. Peace out!

With my favourite holiday approaching, Halloween, comes a blog update. It's been awhile. The Wastes has been released for several months now and I'm back on track with college, since I took a few years off to focus on my work. Now that I'm back in college though, I don't have much time to focus on my work outside of assignments for my classes. I usually end up just coming home and playing games rather than opening up hammer or a modeling program to make stuff. But that doesn't mean I'm not doing stuff every once in awhile! Last night I did a few things for Particle Fusion that I may show on the page soon for you all to check out, and I'm also working on the next update for The Wastes as well, when I have the time. That's all for now, might edit this later. Peace.

Hello peeps! It's me again! Things have been pretty slow and steady here for the most part... some more progress on The Wastes and the money rolling in from my job that I landed a few months back keeps me afloat for the time being. Other than that, I've been thinking about perhaps working more on Particle Fusion just to get a nice new piece of media for you guys to oogle at. It's not much, but at least it shows that I'm still interested in my project!

Now, I said in the title that I had a rant (which I do) so here it is... One thing I always liked to do when I first discovered this site several years ago was scroll through the recently updated mods and be in awe with how many great things people were making with older engines including GoldSource. I don't really get that feeling much anymore because people just aren't making anything NEW nowadays... The only really original project I've seen in the past few years is the Half-Rats series (which looks wonderful, by the way!) and that's pretty much it! Where has all the creativity gone? Why aren't people making actual mods or total conversions anymore? Why are all the "mods" just lazy compilations of models from various sources or stupid texture replacement packs for the base game? This doesn't take effort! All it requires is just the ability to google for stupid models to replace the ones you want to get rid of! These all also look absolutely awful in the base game(s) as well considering that the level design doesn't keep up the pace with the upgraded models... I'm wondering if modding really is dead for these old games now since there's hardly ever a diamond in the rough anymore. It seems that the creative force behind those wonderful mods in the past have moved on to bigger and better things nowadays, leaving people like me with nothing to go crazy over.

That's the end of my rant for the time being. Peace out.

During a brief hiatus from college, I became a working person! The job isn't actually the greatest, but it brings home a paycheck nonetheless while I fry bigger fish (The Wastes). Since my last blog update, Overturn has been declared dead with all the assets released to the public, and The Wastes has been announced at QExpo 2016, garnering some attention and clicks from various people in the Quake and Half-Life community alike... As for me, I'm toiling away at making updated versions of the maps for the project as well as the weapons and characters. It's been proving to be quite a fun experience for someone who knows very little about Quake modding. I really mean that though, it's been an interesting learning experience to play around with the engine that Half-Life's updated version was based on. I think that's about it for now. Peace out!

Hello everyone! The season of college has picked up again and I'm already getting my ass kicked by the work assigned. It's probably because I'm a lazy procrastinator but I'm not sure. I still make time to work on my projects whenever I'm not avoiding my college work or playing a game to avoid my college work. Overturn is nearing completion on a certain part of the game and Particle Fusion is at something of a stand-still until I can focus completely on it. Just wait patiently and in due time everything will come together. Anyway, I should probably work on my college work, but I'll probably just play a game. Fun times.

Hello peeps! My new Personal Computer that was built by myself is finally done so expect some top secret projects that I've had in mind to be not-so-secret very soon. I've been doing a lot of smaller side-projects over the past year when I did not have a proper computer to work with and now that I've got something good to work with, these projects will soon be able to be seen by the public eye. This is an exciting time for me and I plan on kicking it back into gear very soon for Particle Fusion and Overturn (as well as the aforementioned secret projects only known by a select few)!

In other news, Particle Fusion may be going under some major story and page overhauling soon, so keep your eyes peeled for when I update the ModDB page accordingly! And since I have gotten my hands on the actual Half-Life alpha, more concepts from it will be reincarnated into Particle Fusion, such as the Alien Grunt laboratories, and the older test chamber(s). Obviously, this is all map related though, so I guess this really doesn't apply to my previous statement, but what the hell, I'll tell you guys anyway because it's just so damn exciting to me.

Well, that's all for now folks.

I am posting words in a blog!

Edit: Got tired of seeing the same old screenshots on my profile, so I uploaded some new ones. Enjoy.

Well, my computer decided to kick the bucket on me about a month ago now, and I'm still trying to figure out what part was the one that went, but at least I think my hard drives are still good along with my power supply. Fun stuff. I planned on building a new computer from the ground up soon anyway, so I guess it's a blessing and a curse that it finally went.

In other news, I've been working on and off on Overturn lately and a super secret project that should be released soon. I just finished the remake of the original Pyrotechnician model from Overturn, and I've taken the liberty of posting a few screenshots that you can only see here, on my profile. (For the time being, that is.)

Bear in mind that these are not entirely final, and may be changed. Other than these guys, I've also been working on other odds and ends, like the Zombie Human Grunts and their leader, the Zombie Human Assault, as well as another undisclosed enemy. Particle Fusion is unfortunately somewhat at a stand-still for the moment seeming as how I don't have access to my code and all I have is a few .rmfs of maps (outdated, mind you.) Hopefully, I'll rack up enough cash to build my new computer and kickstart it back up soon!

That's enough for now I think.

Welcome all trackers of me and just random visitors!

I'd just like to update my blog post since it's been quite a long time since I have, so here goes. Overturn has gotten the ball rolling lately from a sudden burst of activity on Rafael, Gethyn, and I's part. We've been working almost tirelessly on the multiplayer portion of said modification hoping to ship out a mostly multiplayer demo by Christmas. We've got some upcoming media as well in store for you guys. Aside from Overturn, I've got some more map media coming up for Particle Fusion as well from a sudden burst of activity on my part which I will explain in my next paragraph. Expect some new media for Particle Fusion as soon as possible.

Well, the main reason why both of the modifications have been getting a burst of activity lately is because we've finally found a Half-Life programmer: Myself. Yes, you heard/read it. I've taken up programming in C++ for Half-Life so we can finally kickstart our projects into action for the next media update and hopefully for a faster release. So far, programming hasn't been too bad to me, though I've only been editing what's already there so, who knows what's in store for me later down the line. As for now, I think we may be able to ship out a demo for Overturn this year if I don't run into any obstacles. Keep your fingers crossed ladies and gentlemen!

Until my next blogpost (which will probably be a year from now),
Megan
