Finally: it is possible to get rid of the hyperspace-window effect from HW2! Though the hyperspace-window is cool and Homeworld wouldn't be Homeworld without it, it doesn't really work as a warp drive for Star Trek ships.
The original concept comes from "Stargate Space Conflict", but has been developed further in efficiency and quality. Sadly implementing this for all ships means a lot of HOD-work. Besides there's much scripting necessary.
The video is only a demonstration. The new warp systems is still a bit buggy (not shown :P), sometimes the warp flash doesn't appear at the correct place. And the sound has to be adjusted.
That's unspeakably cool... it makes me want our 2nd release to be purely implementing your sheild and warp FX...
